When I had my old Compaq Presario 2100...
AMD something 1.2GHz 192MB of RAM 20GB HDD ATi Radeon somethingbad 64MB ...I decided it'd be a fun idea to try some new third party video drivers recommended to me by a friend! Result: Getting up at 4 AM before school, trawling the internet for the original drivers WHICH WERE FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. Extensive googling finally led me to some Korean's server. Result: I was stuck with a driver version that was lower than what I had before my controversial idea. Videos stuttered from then on, and UT2K4 went from running at around 20fps on low settings to somewhere about 10. That whole episode (and the computer itself) sucked. Jam it back in, in the dark.  |
