March Smashness

Props to naz for the name.

I'm dropping the clan idea for a little while. Give people sometime to actually get the game and maybe develop interest for it after a normal tournament occurs with no crazy rules or anything attached to it. This tournament is completely unrelated to the other tournament/league thread.

I don't really want anyone debating about the rule set either. It's either you join, or you don't. I understand if you don't want to because of lag also.

I will leave this question for people to answer me though:

March Smashness - One tournament (1v1 or 2v2) or two separate tournaments (1v1 and 2v2). You may sign up for both since one will be held after the other one has been held. You can choose your own teammates also. So... One or two tournaments?

Meh, two tournaments. 1v1 and 2v2. I know where debating will lead me if I ask. o_o

Rule Set:
Double Elimination (Just so the fun won't end after having one match)
4 stock, 8 minutes
All items on - Low
All Stages On
Team Attack On
You are allowed to change characters.

Standard Matches: First to 3 wins
Finals: First to 5 wins

Anyone interested? Oh, post up your Friend Code and in-game name if you wanna sign up. Chaotic is lazy to look in the wiki or the other thread.

Cut off date is next Saturday, March 29th @ 11:59 PM EST.

Last Update: 4/12 - 11:45 PM EST

I only say the Friend Code repost out of love... And the fact that not everyone's is in the Wiki yet. <.<

And just so you know, I'm using tio tournament organizer to determine brackets and keep track of what in the world is going on when this tournament is started. I've used it before, and it works well for it's simplicity.

Since brackets can (and will) be randomly generated, I assure you that it was all the program's fault should you be matched up with someone you know is good on this board.

So yeah, just thought you'd like to know.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Before I sign you up, I fear that you're not gonna be here for the tournament. You're not exactly the most active member signing up for this. The last time you posted was 12 days ago, and prior to that you posted in January.

I don't want to sign up someone who's gonna leave someone hanging just because they didn't check this place to see who they were fighting.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I'll still sign you up though, but just be sure to post around or whatever. I'm just a little weary about that.

But tell me, both tournaments?

I was speaking idiomatically.

We'll get back to it eventually, Tritoch. I wanna go back to it also, but first, just a normal tournament for everyone.

Then we can complicate shit again. o_o

I'm still thinking about that. o_o

I actually started thinking about how people would choose their teammates once the 2v2 tournament rolls around. I'm sure that people can mingle with themselves to choose a teammate and then send me in the team with a designated team name.

Although it seems a little unfair to the two lurkers we have in the tournament... To some extent anyway. Perhaps they could form Team LURK MOAR!

But we'll think about it when the time comes.

As for the double elimination. The championship match consists of the winner of the Winner's Bracket and the winner of the loser's bracket. Winner takes all after that match.

Gotcha. Hopefully this will somehow work out. There's an odd amount of people in the 2v2, so maybe that cut-off date will be just for the 1v1, if anyone still wants to do the 2v2 when the 1v1 starts, feel free to sign-up.

URGENT QUESTION: To anyone participating, just so this tournament isn't insanely short, is everyone alright with making it a first to three wins match-up? The finals would switch up to first to five wins. Just thinking about it so the level of competition stays high.

Confirmed.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Mmhmm, just wanna make this as competitive as possible. Even if you're the only one who's actually said anything about it, I'm gonna finalize it anyway. I'm sure people want to show as much skill as possible in this tournament.

I was just about to object and then I read:

"I will fund these awards."

I thought I would have to pay for it, but since you're offering it, it's something I can't refuse. I could use a couple of game downloads on the VC. :3

Chaotic lacks a job and is cheap as hell.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well there goes the neighborhood.

Additional Spam:
And sign-ups for the 1v1 tournament are closed! 2v2 sign-ups are still open.

I should have the brackets up in a minute.

Start considering who you want to team up with now. Next week, I'll start allowing people to send in their teammates and their team names.

I'll add them all into the tio tournament organizer and again, slap everything in randomness... No matter how many byes there are this time.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I was figuring that would happen anyway. Just come up with a team name and PM it to me.

Chaotic is speaking in the third-person again. Chaotic is reminding himself this is all just for fun. It's all just for fun, Chaotic.

Hay, it's been long enough.

You could start choosing your teammate for the 2v2 Tournament. PM me the team name and the name of the teammate so I could mark down everyone so we could get this started right after the 1v1 tournament finishes up.

Oh, me and naz are already teamed up. Don't talk about team names in here though. I wanna keep them hidden until the tournament.

But I'll mark off who has a teammate already.

Ohh this is gonna be fun. I can see our plan of attack now:

Chaotic (Wolf): LANDMASTER!!! *kills everyone*
me (Peach): *on side of screen* La, la-la, la-la, la...
But make sure you're out of range. Just to be fair to everyone, team attack MUST be on.

And is everyone alright with stock sharing after death?

By the way, not sure if people know how to take lives from their teammates or not...

All stock sharing is when one of your teammate has been defeated, but you still have more than one life. When you press the combination of buttons, you take a life from your teammate and live again for one more stock.

It's been around since the first one, but always regarded a secret for some reason.

I'll look into that tonight. I'm not sure how you stock share with the Wii-mote/Nunchuck or the Wii-mote alone.

It's probably A+B+1+2 on the Wii-mote making a safe assumption.

I still can't use that shit though. I don't get why 1+2 isn't defaulted at throwing someone...

I was going to drop out too (after beating Kairyu silly) just to save Icy the efforts of pwning me but I figured I have nothing to lose by continuing. I was getting bored of Brawl already but after playing with Kairyu earlier I've been in the mood to play again.

We need to practice our teamwork. I keep friendly firing on Kairyu during our team practice matches.
