Dogs, no contest. I've owned 2 dogs (and babysat for several others) and 1 cat in my lifetime. Never saw the cat at all...Only memory I have of her was waking up one morning and watching her chase a mouse. She was rather anti-social (and we were always nice to her too).
Dogs are more "in your face" and more expressive overall (barking and all), while keeping the relaxed/secluded nature of cats at times. I can relate to that better than I ever could with my cat. I consider my dog (a labrador-border collie mix) to be the perfect companion, in either hyper mode or peaceful R and R mode. It's scary how much she understands...
Jam it back in, in the dark.
I'm taking over this town...
I'm screaming for vengenace...
I'm shouting at the devil...
I'm not dead and I'm not for sale...
Ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time...
