They're just doing straight matches tonight and on Smackdown, from what I hear. I'll be curious to see the ratings for this week...

Back to the real wrestling...I hope Nitro has a defense or something tonight. I haven't seen him wrestle a decent match in ages.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I was thinking about htis even more, and honestly, Vince couldn't win either way.

Had he not done the tribute and waited, he would have been bashed for "HAVING" to continue the event when both wrestlers and fans alike were still reeling from the shock of what happened (I need only reference Martel's death as an example).
Exactly why I hate the media...They make such an effort to look for sensationalist angles without giving their subject matter a fair chance. You're supposed to report what happens, not interject your opinion and sway the public perception in the interest of ego and ratings.

I understand Martel, since she was inactive, and I can get over the poor taste of the Vince-Is-Dead angle continuing. That just wasn't an option with Benoit, an active wrestler who was one of the cornerstones of the roster.

Edit: And they start off with John "fucking" Cena on ECW. Goddammit! There's a good way to mock Benoit's death...COME ON, NITRO!

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I can see WWE digitally painting Benoit out of the WM20 match. That would be hella funny to watch anyway.

In all reality, it's not like Benoit was all over the WWE. He was more or less an under-promoted staple in recent times, so the clean-up isn't anything major if they want to promote his existence less.

And yeah, I never saw him hit the headbutt and come away NOT in pain (either from missing or being stunned on a clean hit). Benoit was also infamous for "hurting" himself during back suplexes off the top rope.

I'm in Guatemala. I have no idea how old the material I get is. Bad enough having to put up listening to the Spanish announcers.
What happens when the Spanish announce table gets destroyed (like it always does)? I always figure that's the end of the Spanish broadcast...

I like Booker vs HHH right now. Hopefully HHH gains some momentum before they have him take the title off Cena (please, WWE?) , but Booker always puts up a good match so this will be entertaining at least. I want to see Lawler go back to being old-school and throwing fireballs.

Probably the Wrestlemania title match no one remembers was HHH vs Booker at XIX (was nothing special anyway...clean HHH pin with minimal drama).

Edit: Okay, that was officially the worst in-ring face-off ever. Lashley has no mic skills and he spent his time saying how he doesn't want to talk about it. Okay...Rock vs Stone Cold, this definitely isn't.

That said...Damn, I want to see him snap Cena like a twig.

Sorry dagget, but I feel completely the opposite...If I paid good money to be in attendence and my main event was Orton vs John Cena...'s father, I'd be doing the same thing. The storyline is weak (dad wrestles to save son's title? LOL@) and I was flicking between football and this the entire time because the angle was legitimate crap (and frankly, so are both wrestlers involved...Orton being the lesser of two evils in my mind).

One of the best things about old ECW tapes were the crowd chants.

The handcuff thing reminded me of a match the Bossman referree'd at ones those WCW PPVs... where he broke it off the cage. Forgot who was fighting in that match.
It was Superbrawl 94, Vader vs Ric Flair. Bossman was the enforcer and at some point, Harley Race and Vader handcuffed Bossman. Bossman broke free, clocked Vader with the nightstick and Flair got the win. Which lead into an angle where Bossman became the Guardian Angel (due to the WWF sending a cease-and-desist letter over the Bossman character) then Bubba Rogers (after GA flopped).

That was right around the time I started watching wrestling, so I remember that pretty well.

Funny I can remember stuff like that so vividly and I can't tell you anything that happened even a couple months ago. Practically any WWF or WCW feud from late 92 to early 95, I know by heart (along with most early GWF feuds...Yay for ESPN2 showing wrestling!). After that, it's a blur (aside from the Austin-McMahon angle and some NWO stuff). Of course...In early 95, my friend with the cable box that got everything for free moved away, so that was probably a factor.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

There is a god. That's all I have to say.

I hope Cena trips on a banana peel and needs another surgery the day before he comes back to a WWE ring. Anything to prevent another "OMFG, Superman!" PPV match or another wigger interview that tries so hard to channel the Rock (and fails miserably everytime) or the ridiculous "I'm so mad, I can't speak and just randomly beat up people" shtick. Anything to get some people I actually want to watch every night on RAW fighting for the title (yes, Orton is higher on my depth chart, but barely).

Edit: And LOL @ Val Venis with 10%. What the hell is up with Carlito not even with 1% though!?

2: Jericho/HBK returns and wins the title. Maybe DX is reformed if HBK comes back (or turns heel against Triple H, I don't see Trips being heel again for a while, if for the rest of his active career)
I wouldn't say that...Steve Austin was the man for about 3 years, then somehow WWE found a way to get people to boo him. Which is amazing, considering he never was a real "good" guy...Just a great tweener with a well-thought-out and entertaining character. I was disappointed when he started getting booed. HHH, on the other hand, has been an antagonistic and arrogant heel for close to 80% of his career and a damn good one at that...I think he's exceptionally boring as a face, some legitimately funny moments aside (the one DX spoof where he played Vince comes to mind).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

No, it was Halloween Havoc 93 when Foley lost. Harley Race shocked him with a cattle prod and he couldn't answer the count. The ear incident was during a European tour in 1994 (oddly enough, after they announced there would be no more Vader/Foley matches due to the violence at the HH one).

Wished they brought back the old 3/4 style WCW lineup that way Tenay wasn't that annoying because Schiavone did all the talking.
Eh, I'd have been happy if they'd have left both of them off. Shiavone just struck me as a corporate hype-man who did what Eric Bishoff told him to do in his ear and was equally annoying to hear. Nitro was downright atrocious to listen to, aside from Heenan (whose work with Gorilla Monsoon is rightfully legendary...Just watch the 1992 or 1993 Royal Rumbles). Jim Ross deserves a lot of credit for making Raw a much more watchable and entertaining show at the time (every RAW wasn't the "Greatest Ever!", as Shiavone normally claimed with Nitro) and his calls ("Stone COLD! STONE COLD!", "Business is about to pick up." and anything that had the word 'slobberknocker' in it) had much more authenticity to them.

I would have loved to have seen Ross or Joey Styles cover the NWO angle.

But no one...No one was as shitty and fake as Vince McMahon (except maybe Rob Bartlett) as a face announcer. I didn't mind when I was 12-13, but now it hurts to watch those matches with the sound on. The sudden transformation to "Mr. McMahon" was welcome for both storylines and the announcing team (read: it signaled the end of "face" Vince behind the booth).

I was speaking idiomatically.

I always find Michaels and HHH to be at their best and most interesting playing the heels. They're good wrestlers that can put on a show, but they're also cocky assholes you want to root against. They're kind of boring to root for, since they rarely lose or come out on the low end of an exchange. Kind of like Cena or Lashley, but in their case, turning heel might give their characters some much-needed personality. With Michaels/HHH, it feels natural. Maybe just because I grew up with Michaels being a great heel and he and HHH were probably more over as the original heel (sort of) DX than at any other point in their careers, their face personas don't feel right.

Jericho though...I always found him significantly more exciting as a face or just a tweener. I remember he had one gimmick as a heel in WCW that basically was really stupid and just hurt his momentum (SOOO long ago...I think it was a crybaby gimmick). Although I think just about everyone was rooting for him over John Cena right before he left, when he was a heel.

Well, it's not as if Davey Boy led a clean and juice-free existence. This comes as no surprise to me, although it's a shame.

Masters, I can't say I was surprised either, but for different reasons entirely and I can't say it was a shame at all.

I actually really liked Victoria when she was in the hunt for Mickie's title. Shame her push ended so early. But yeah...I wouldn't doubt she's probably the most talented female on the roster. I'm actually more of a Gail Kim fan, but she's in TNA, SOOO...WWE made a huge mistake letting her and Christy go...Haven't seen Christy wrestle that much, but I love her mic skills.

Wow, last night's TNA show was really well-put together. Great (and hilarious) skit with Team 3D and the X-Division, Kaz vs Angle was money and had a great build-up (where did Kaz come from? He looked amazing out there), Booker T debuting and having a spat with Christian (translation: good feud between two guys who can give great matches and great promos), Hall and Nash collaborating like old times (with a surprise at the end...See below) and solid action all-around from everyone else involved. One of the best shows I've seen in years from any company. Also, Christy/Jackie > All WWE divas, save for Victoria. I highly recommend catching the replay tomorrow if anyone missed it.

Spoiler:
Their mystery partner is Samoa Joe to take on Angle, AJ and Tomko

Okay, the Carlito/Hornswoggle bit qualifies for both the stupidest and funniest moment of the year. Carlito sold it really good though...Not sure if it would have worked with anyone else (especially him eating the apple afterwards).

Although it is sad to see Carlito being reduced to comedy relief...

Well, I'm of the opinion that:

TNA is absolutely slaying right now.

WWE is absolute crap right now.

TNA is finding the perfect mix of main eventers, storytelling, variety (women's division, gimmick matches that WORK!, high spots), up and comers (KAZ!!!! Dude comes out of nowhere and just oozes star power, in the ring and on the mike) and campy crap for the guys who aren't going anywhere (Christy and the guys with the rock gimmick, Eric Young's mike work, Shark Boy). Matches feel fresh, more guys are cycled in, the girls are hot (Gail, Christy, the announcer girl, So-Cal Val, Angelina Love, Velvet Sky...damn, hell of a line-up! Then O.D.B. is getting over big time and Kong is just ferocious)

WWE...I'm sick of Cena, Orton, Michaels and HHH. Vince is atrocious without Steve Austin to kick his ass...I love Finley's ring-work and even on the mike, he's good, but this is getting stupid. I want to see more of Carlito, Hardy, Jericho and Edge (minus the retarded Vicky shtick). Maybe Kennedy and MVP, but the potential on these guys is getting to poinit of "put up or STFU". The only guy on the undercard with any potential is Morello and that's because he's playing the doofus extremely well. Punk is solid, but John Morrison feels like he got buried and I don't buy Chavo or Mysterio as contenders. Just feels very stale, while TNA is really going for the throat with good matches up and down the card with a larger variety of players. Russo and Co. would be wise to score a guy with an upside like Carlito for pennies on the dollar and watch him because the next Stone Cold with the right push.

Just saying...This pattern's been ongoing for weeks now.

I haven't prayed for a long time, but I was on my knees tonight, hoping SOMETHING would happen to John Cena...An interference, a freak injury, anything. I want him to fight Umaga or something at 'Mania, just to keep him away from the title. But no...They make Orton look vulnerable with a CLEAN pin, then HHH gets over the way he always does. I'll definitely root for HHH over both, but...

I need some TNA after watching that crap.

I liked Burchill before...He had a solid gimmick and good in-ring skills, before he got hurt/jobbed out. I hope they give him a decent push. Finisher looked weak though...I was surprised when he got the pin. The chick's hot, but I prefer the pirate gimmick. He looks like a guy I'd expect to see in TNA.

I was just wondering...Would they let me keep the IC belt at my place if I asked for it? I mean, they're not exactly...you know...USING IT!!! I remember they used to build entire feuds around titles other than the World Titles. What's the point?

Problem: Who's going to feel sorry for HHH against "evil" Cena?

Fresh blood would be nice...Hardy or Jericho making it a four-way and winning is the only way I so much as read the in-depth WM24 result.

Kind of a lame TNA show...I think this was kind of a filler overall to help the feuds build up a bit, but I am absolutely loving the women's division. They have about 7 legitimate characters sorted out who can wrestle and are getting their due (ODB, Kong, Gail, Love, Sky, Jackie and Roxy, who is <3), plus Hemme as a valet, who has always been great. I think this is a great move on their part...The women's matches are getting to be a real highlight (as opposed to WWE, where I turn my head for fear of seeing anyone not called Victoria land wrong...Victoria should definitely be working for TNA). And Crystal on the mike is gold. All are easy on the eyes too (well, except ODB...but her mike skills make up for it)

Ready for Nash vs Angle this week...There HAS to be some kind of swerve coming up with Joe, Cage and Nash on the same team.
