I really don't understand why the levees were not updated and reinforced to help stop some of the storm surges. I suppose because Louisiana rarely gets hit by major hurricanes, or at least a direct hit, they still do occur.
Seriously though, the whole relief effort and response was really fumbled. A damn shame too, since this could easily happen to any coastal city. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
