I went in thinking that I was going to hate Lost Odyssey. I've come to dislike traditional turn based RPGs over the last few years. DQ8 for example, I wish I could like, but I just can't quite for some reason.
The thing that LO does that I like is that they don't have 10,000 systems that you have to manage. You just job link, equip 2 pieces of stuff and then go on and kill shit. Sure there's the ring customization, but all you do for that is collect stuff and then choose what you want from a menue, nothing that technical.
The other thing that it does is it has a good gameplay to cinematic ratio. I like cinematics, and while I also liked FFXII, you had to do WAAAAAY too much just to get to the next bit of plot development. In this the story keeps rolling it seems.
Now don't get me wrong. This is far from the greatest RPG of all time, however I do feel that it is the best RPG of this generation. (just edges Eternal Sonata out by having more mature themes)
Side note: It's nice to see a game where Nomura's art style really shows. Kaim TOTALLY reminds me of his sketches of characters like he made for 9 and earlier. So cool.

I've been hearing similar things from people I know. I might check it out by renting it, after I check everything else. If anything this will be on the backburner and I purchase when I have some money burning a hole in my pocket and I've bought the games I already want.
There's nowhere I can't reach.
