I really enjoy Meshuggah. I just love the way they construct their songs, how the newer ones are sort of dorning and machine like, while the solos are very odd in relation to the song itself. Good stuff. I also enjoy Martyr.

I really haven't found myself falling out of musical genres, though I have been yearning for new stuff as I've listened to just about all my albums many times over. I've been on a game OST kick though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Demons and Wizards, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest but I am asking anything esle?

I'm starting to like Heavy, Power and a few others but I have a question, What's the difference? I know what Heavy Metal is but power? Death? Can someone explain this?

And as well, why does everyone I know say (forgot his first name) but Manson(sp?) is not goth metal? I don't listen to hte person but everytime I ask for what music I should say and as a newbie to Metal, they are like don't put him in that section or esle I'll scream.
Angra man. I'm listening to Temple of Shadows again for the hundred millionth time, and it still rocks! One of the best power metal bands out there. I need to get their other albums.

I've never heard any Symphony X, although I've heard of the band before. Symphonic metal, I'm assuming? If so, I'd probably like it .

Anyway Angra kind of has the wavering drawn out vocals in some points like what Fabio does from Rhapsody. Not quite so much though and I actually like it better, because it gets kind of irritating when Fabio does that a ton. The guitar solos & riffs in some songs sound similar to Rhapsody's =/.

But yeah, if Angra changed their sound, that is really pretty sweet, because most bands don't ever really do that.
Ah I don't have those albums yet, and I haven't heard enough Rhapsody, only one song, to make a comparable judgement.

Symphony X is very good and worth checking out. I'll probably have to check out Rhapsody some more, the one song I heard I didn't care for. What are some albums to check out?

I just preordered All That Remains' new album and got a package deal with their first CD, a shirt from their album and a poster of This Darkened Heart. I'm stoked.

Oh yes and I recieved a pretty neat Slayer package that I won online. It came with three CD-Rs, two contained live footage and music videos the other had live MP3s of the band, some of horrible quality and other of good quality. Also recieved a tribute double CD album of Slayer, a patch and a decal.

I enjoy Dragonforce. I didn't like them at first as Dragonheart, I guess my taste in power metal hadn't developed yet. Besides, I can't stay hating a band that incorporates video game music into their songs. That's just fucking bad ass!

Check out 7th Son they're a new thrash style band and I know the bass player. Pretty bad ass stuff.

I'm downloading it now. I'm curious as to how it is.

I'm also curious of the movie that they're making that's loosely based on the Bloody Rise of Satanic Metal Underground book, particularly the Vikernes/Euronymous feud. The feud itself would make an interesting and entertaining movie.

Yeah that was a pretty good documentary. Definitely better than the shit that VH1 pedals as being 'metal documentary'. I was really fascinated by the interviews with the black metal bands. That was pretty insightful and a stark contrast compared to most metal bands. Good stuff, I might have to get the DVD.

I dig Liquid Tension Experiment. Nothing really mind blowing, but very enjoyable.

Anyone a fan of Into Eternity? I can't wait for their new album. Ditto of 3 Inches of Blood.

I'm a fan of Mastodon. I really love their cover art and their music is fucking awesome. I've been thinking about that tour, as well as the Sounds of the Underground (mostly for Behemoth and Gwar) and the tour with Hypocrisy/Fear Facorty/Suffocation/Decapitated looks pretty sweet. Hmm...which one to go to...

Yeah I might go to the Hypocrisy tour. I've only seen Hypocrisy once live and I'm a fan of all the bands on that bill. I'm a fan of all the bands on the Unholy Alliance as well but I've already seen CoB and Slayer twice as well as Mastodon at Ozzfest. Lamb of God I've seen live as well.

I enjoy Slayer. Definitely enjoy their older material, though they have some OK songs on their newer stuff.

I got the new All That Remains CD and their first one. I really enjoy their first CD, not too much metalcore there however the new one is very solid. Nothing mindblowing and if you enjoy good metalcore, you would enjoy it. Otherwise it won't change your mind.

I like it all. It doesn't matter to me. However I do prefer the deep gutteral growls over screams. They just sound more powerful and darker than screaming.

I certainly would classify Avenged Sevenfold as metal, though I do also enjoy them (oh know I have terrible taste in music!). Pop or not, the guitarists have quite a bit of technical proficiency, which of course people would debate whether or not they can write songs.

Of course Avenged Sevenfold using psuedo names is nothing new. Just ask Immortal, Darkthrone, Mayhem, Mortiis and just about any other black metal band out there. Some of them are pretty bad and lame as well. Necrobutcher? Give me a break.

Though if it's done in a tongue in cheek way, then it's more enjoyable.

I have heard stuff from those bands and I like Talamyus. Don't have any of the bands' albums however. Well I have one of Hantaoma downloaded, but I really dont' count those of ownerships.

By the way, for people who download metal albums, do you just download it or do you intend to purchase it at a later date? Do you count the downloaded albums you have, or only go by physical albums?

I personally just count my physical albums, however there is a website, Rate Your Music I believe is what it's called, that has categories of ownership and MP3s fall in line there. Otherwise, it's just phsycial albums. On the issue of downloading, sure I have some downloaded but I do intend to buy them when I get enough money. And in fact I have done that with Old Man's Child. I bought the very album I had downloaded, got rid of the original MP3s. I'll do it again with other bands as well.

The Dissection homepage implied that Jon was a 'true Satanist'. Now as for what kind of Satanism I don't know, probably a form LaVeyism.

This kind of thing probably wouldn't be beyond him. Normally, if the media tried to finger Satanism on suicide, then yeah I would call bullshit, however this guy seems more tied to it than the average person.
