What turns you off when it comes to music?

I really can't stand music with horrible production values, a reason why I shy away from most black metal. However there are exceptions if the music proves to be particularly excellent, otherwise I won't give it the time of day.

I generally don't like simplistic lyrics. It won't annoy me if the music is exceptional, like RATM, I really enjoy the music there so I'll forgive some of the lyrical misgivings. I guess it's just a variety of reasons, I really can't pin point it on one aspect.

It bugs me when the lyrics of a song are meant to be fun or romantic, but just end up being creepy. There's a bunch of songs that are kinda like that Sting song, "I'll be Missing You" or whatever.
