Imbed subtitles into a video file.

Hey. I'm looking for a way to insert subtitles (from a .txt or .sub file) into a video file. I know how to do it with ffdshow or whatever, but what I need is to actually make the subtitles part of the video stream (and thus re-render), and not it's own stream.

Is this even possible?

I don't suppose you could expand on that abit, could you? As far as I know, VobSub just packages the subtitles together with the video and audio streams inside a file container.
And also, wouldn't you reccomend VirtualDubMod over VirtualDub?

Ok, now with VirtualDub open and the avi loaded, how do I go about using the Vobsub plugin? (You'll have to be just a bit patient with me, I don't know a whole lot about digital video etc.).
