Holy shit! The MGS4 trailer is already in the PS store (along with alot of other trailers)! I wasn't expecting it to pop up that quickly.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Haha me too, I'm just downloading everything right now. Damn, if I had known this stuff would be in the store this soon I would have checked earlier. Ahhh, hopefully the MGS4 trailer finishes downloading before I gotta go to work.
EDIT: Just saw the trailer, damn is Naomi on Liquid's/Ocelot's side? Vamp vs. Raiden, about time, and it looks like Raiden's blade is heated too. And man the english performances are turning out great too (though slightly disappointed with the absence of Naomi's accent as I'm partial to the perfomances in MGS and not TTS)! Anyone else kinda dissapointed that they've yet again discluded the MGS theme in the trailer? Simultaneous, Early 2008 release! Hopefully by early 2008 they mean January. ![]() ![]() ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I agree with Simo, the trailer didn't feel as epic as the previous ones, though it did add a nice little twist (Naomi in league with Liquid Ocelot?).
Oh, anyone else catch the line by Naomi? "Nine years ago, at Shadow Moses..." The Plant chapter in MGS2 is 4 years after Shadow Moses, so that makes MGS4 about 5 years after MGS2. How about the guy with the shades and mask? Anyone else think it's Raiden? Kinda sounds like him (plus he's got blond hair), and it does seem rather odd how he's unaffected by the nanomachine/FOXDIE (whatever Liquid Ocelot did) activation. BTW, did anyone catch when he exclamed "Jonathan"? Could this be Johnny Sasaki? Oh and Meryl and her unit's suits look very similar to Big Boss' sneaking suit from MGSPO. The visuals looks great, except for some of the weird jaggy looking shadows. Though, did anyone else think that the framerate seemed kinda low, like the scenes were a little choppy at times, doesn't seem like it's running consistantly at 60fps (if I remember correctly that claim was made). Story-wise, does anyone else think that they might do a sort of chapter/time-gap-thing like they did with MGS2 and MGS3. Eg. Begin the game with some events that happend 1-3 years (MGS2 Tanker Chapter, MGS3 Virtuous Mission) ending the act with something dramatic before the real meat of it all starts. Perhaps Snake obtains the Snake Eye (I think that's what it was called) during the 2nd part of the game? Or rather Raiden obtaining the exoskeleton in the 2nd act. Or maybe what we saw in the trailer was the beginnning part of the game. And man that Raiden vs. Vamp scene really makes me wonder if you truely can't play as Raiden. I mean it looks like they're an even match, and with the way they closed it almost seems as if it leads into a boss battle. The soundtrack was pretty good from what was in the clip, guessing it's something that HGW wrote. Just really disappointed that they still haven't played the new mix of the MGS theme. Ahhh, I really hope a demo hits the PSN after TGS or sooner. Cause early 2008 is too long of a waiting time. No doubt the only reason why it's that late is cause it's simultaneous (*cough* the PAL release *cough*).
Though I personally thought the english performances were great and wouldn't be upset if the japanese track wasn't included. Thumbs up to the return of Debi Mae West, Patric Zimmerman and Jennifer Hale, but WTF is Cam Clarke? Just isn't the same without him voicing Liquid. It also looks like the lips/mouth-movements will be somewhat insync with the english performances. So it might kinda weird/awkward when you switch to the japanese track. Anyway, assuming it's not included, you could always just import the Japanese version of game if you want the japanese track that badly (remember region free on games). I was speaking idiomatically. |
Spoiler:
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Hmm, sounds like Kojima will be going with the SIXAXIS feature and isn't gonna wait out for the rumble. Cause remember reading he was gonna implement an alternate feature if a rumble controller wasn't released/announced in time (as he wanted rumble for the game instead).
Haha, all the new features sound nice. I like how staying in a trash can or steel drum for too long will cause you to smell. Many different viewpoints is a nice touch, I wonder the ol' top view one will be available as well. Heh, and love how you can use the magazines to remedy your motion sickness and how it has multiple pages this time. Can't wait to see what MGO is gonna be like now too. Ohh, I hope a playable demo hits up the PSN soon.
And wow the lines in the japanese trailer sound somewhat different (well, duh I know they're in different languages, but content wise). Eg. The dialogue between Meryl and Snake's during the closing of the first half of the trailer, Snake's last line in japanese doesn't like he says same thing in english. Man, I hope Cam Clarke returns to portray Liquid, it just isn't the same without him. The japanese version of the trailer doesn't really give hope of his possible return either, since it doesn't sound like they tried to get someone to mimic Ocelot's deceased japanese VA. EDIT: Ok, did anyone else catch the MPO+ trailer!?! Man, new characters: Raiden, Johnny, Genome soldiers, Gurlukovich soldiers, Arsenal Tengu's, SEALs, and even Old Snake. New maps, such as the hanger room for Rex from MGS and some from MGO. And a piano version of "Calling to the Night" played at the beginning, pretty nice. Heh, plus a nice little closer at the end. http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/event2007/index.html FELIPE NO |
Man, I hope a demo pops up real soon on the PSN as I'm sure I'll be aching to try it out once vids of HK demoing the game hits the net.
Oh and for those that are interested, the Japanese version of the E3 trailer just hit the Japanese PSN. Go make yourself an account if you haven't already, as it may prove useful in the future (eg. demos that may be released there before the NA PSN). What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Ahh, anyone know if there's a guide yet to the beta sign up? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Just checked out the gameplay footage. Looks incredibly fun, I like how there's also a cross hair for when you're in over-the-shoulder view. Though I'm kinda bummed that Kojima didn't demo how weapon customization would work in the game.
BTW, in the new menu system (which was manufactured by Hal Emmerich, heh), Childbrowser, there's actually a Weather, Temp, as well as Wind speed/direction reading there. I wonder what that's gonna be for. ![]() Man, I hope a demo pops up real soon on the PSN, as I don't think I can't wait till early 08 to get my hands all over this. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Holy crap! The demonstration footage is on the Japanese PSN! Downloading now (638 mbs)!
Now, we just need a damned downloadable demo! EDIT: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Heh, on the merchandise side, looks like they're also making MGS1 Snake and Ninja Kubricks as well as MGS4 Old Snake and Raiden, plus a new MGS3 Big Boss. They look pretty cool, might try to get them, seeing as how I missed out on the MGS2 Kubrick. Spoiler:
BTW, anyone else read up on the new MGO? One of the Konami reps described it as a "hide-and-seek" game. The new SOP system sounds interesting, you can find/see location of your team mates on the map (even if a wall/box is in the way, you'll get an x-ray sort of view of em). Apparently the SOP system can be used a weapon as well. When you kill an opposing player you can tap their info link and find out the location of the player's team mates. Another new neat feat. is that you can attack while you're on the ladder now too. They also added the ability to choke, not sure if I like that (sees the potential of it being abused). Oh and the game now supports 16 players total, making it an 8-8 team match. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/807/807583p1.html I wonder if MGO will be released before MGS4... The closed beta testing kinda hints at the possibility. Ahh, whatever as long as I can get a taste of the gameplay, be it from MGO or MGS4. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Hmm, I'm guessing we tap the R2 button is use the grenade launcher and stun on the knife, and hold R2 to load the weapon menu?
Does anyone else find this location eerily familiar to the Grozynj Grad base during the Sidecar runaway part from MGS3? ![]() Oh and the MGS4 demo footage is now available on both the NA and Euro PSNs. EDIT: http://mp.i-revo.jp/user.php/kp-ryan/entry/107.html New KPR podcast is interesting. The local Vamp & Raiden were fighting in was confirmed to be South America. And Payton didn't even deny that the guy with the mask & shades that wasn't affect by the nanos activation is Raiden as Randy Nelson babbled on about it. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
EDIT: New podcast, another session with Randolph. Doesn't really reveal any new, but there's a bleep at 18:27, wonder what that was about? Next session is Quinton Flynn, which should be very interesting, heh, apparently he quite the goofball. I wonder if they'll spill the beans about whether he is the guy in the shades and mask (cause personally, from the english E3 trailer, it sounds like he was voiced by Flynn). http://mp.i-revo.jp/user.php/kp-ryan/entry/123.html I was speaking idiomatically. |
Bleh, the article's title is confusing too. "Kojima to show..." kinda implies that it'll be another gameplay demo and not an actual playable demo. I really hope it is indeed an actual on stands playable demo and will be appearing on the PSN the week of or shortly after. Heh, looks like I'll be keeping an eye on the Euro PSN for the week of GC.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
New KP Report interview with Quinton Flynn. Heh, we get a sample of the english version of Raiden's line from the 2006 E3 trailer. Oh and Payton mentioned an interview he had with Kojima which is being done for a documentary. I wonder if this is for Metal Gear Saga vol.2 or for the MGS4 documentary the Japanese voted for a while back (mentioned in a previous podcast).
Plus they gave somewhat of a reason as to why Cam Clarke isn't back (more or less, decision was made by Kojima). Basically cause it was Ocelot's body, and that the original plan for the Japanese VA was to have the VA for Ocelot return (who we all know passed away, RIP). Oh and they released what Kris Zimmerman's relation to Pat Zimmerman's is. And interstingly they're still doing auditions for other characters in the game. http://mp.i-revo.jp/user.php/kp-ryan/entry/128.html FELIPE NO |
How ya doing, buddy? |
And looky at what popped up on YouTube, Metal Gear Saga vol. 2 (though it doesn't refer to itself as such). Assuming that this does see an NA release, I wonder who they're getting to narrate it (in fact, I wonder who is the narrator for it, character wise). Ohhh and is that the instrumental version of "Calling to the Night" I'm hearing during the run down of the MG timeline and credits? I hope it sees a release in the near feature (why wasn't it included in the MG 20th Ann music collection!?!?)! Or at least a rip .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSLaPbYjZCI Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Do you know if the new trailer will be hitting the PSN store this week? I'm assuming the Euro one if it does...
How ya doing, buddy? |
Just checked the Euro and they got some trailers from GC. They even have the MGS4 game demo from the 20th anniversary party, same one on the NA and Japanese PSN, but this time dubbed in english. I believe it's Ken Imaizumi who's narrating it. Here's hoping the GC trailer pops up on the PSN tomorrow.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
The KP Event's Page is updated and the GC content is accessible now, along with a stream of the GC trailer. The four bosses from the Famitsu issue are named the "Beauty and the Beast Unit." Basically there's a beauty under each of those beastly exoskeletons. Looks like the beauties are based off of real women/actresses/models(?). From the order on the page I'm assuming Lyndall Jarvis is Laughing Octopus, Scarlett Chorvat is Raging Raven, Mieko Rye is Crying Wolf, and Yumi Kikuchi is Screaming Mantis.
Just watched the trailer and that unit looks pretty crazy. The soundtrack is sounding pretty good too, but still no MGS theme. I wonder why... could HGW still be working on it? http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/event2007/index-en.html EDIT: I just noticed that the two puppets Screaming Mantis has dangling beside her are Psycho Mantis and The Sorrow. Most amazing jew boots |
Incase no one knew already, the GC trailer is up the NA PSN. Oddly, the Euro PSN didn't have the GC trailer, just the gameplay demonstration I mentioned earlier.
After the viewing of the HD version I noticed that when Raging Raven dove down she sliced the group of PMCs in half, heh pretty gruesome. Also, noticed that Laughing Octopus has the same octocamo technology that Snake has, quite fitting seeing as how she's an "octopus". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I was speaking idiomatically. |
The latest KPR session is with Kris Zimmerman again. This time they were talking about their final recording session for the game. They made an interesting comment about how they had to be selective for the lines in the E3 trailer as Snake's voice does indeed change tone (like he sounds older in one part than the other), that he gets older in the game, somewhat hinting that the game could be happening over an amount of years. Another interesting comment is that Zimmerman said there were some scenes that made her cry, some really emotional scenes to come?
Something else that might interest fans to know is that they changed around some words from the Japanese script. Eg. what's said in the English version may not be a literal translation of what was said in the Japanese version. But the same message is there. An example was a line Snake says in the game as he hands a gun to someone and says "good luck" (direct translation of the Japanese), which is being re-worded/written to "here take this" (something Snake is more likely to say). They also revealed that Fred Tatasciore is the one who performs the male voice in the beasts. Oh and Debi Mae West will be recording a KPR session, hopefully it'll be next weeks. i-revo The KP Report Session 055 マイãƒãƒ¼ã‚¿ãƒ« What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
The VA in the GC trailer not being Sigint isn't a surprise, the guy sounded too young. Maybe he's one of the guys from the New Foxhound Unit. Meh, the TGS trailer revealing too much doesn't really bug me since it wouldn't be the first time they've done it. If anything it'll probably be to the same degree as the MGS3 trailers. Though it does kinda bug me that Ryan says that he felt the trailer revealed too much, cause now we know there won't be too many secrets left (kinda killing the suspense/expectation for us to expect more).

Holy crap! Ahh, overload of new info! I guess I'll be keeping everything in spoiler quotes.
Spoiler:
Payton was right, this was a little too spoilerific. Spoiler:
I'll be waiting to see the trailer in HD as well, hopefully it'll hits the PSN tomorrow. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Anyway, just saw the trailer! Even though it's no HD quality. Very very disappointing that the MGS theme still hasn't made its debut, the music in the trailer itself wasn't that great. I really hope it wasn't scrapped, if it was then damn those Russian journalists. And damn, Naomi really is generous, showing lotta clevage. Anyone else thinks she kinda looks like Monica Bellucci now? The dub itself sounds pretty good, definitely looks like the the lips are in sync with the english VO now. Spoiler:
Ahh, I hope the demo pops up soon on the PSN. Like next week. Heh and great to hear that they wasted no time in trying to implement the rumble now. Oh, also saw the MGO trailer. The shields from MPO are in it, the old City Under Siege map is back, looks like one of the maps is indeed Grozjny Grad, and it appears as if the game encourages much more teamwork than before. Such as indicators of when a teamate is in nead of help. Also checked out MGS2 BD trailer. Might have to import that to check out the Japanese VA, though I wonder how they're going to compensate for the deceased VAs for Fox and Ocelot. Heh, I also wonder if for the english VA will they dub all of Ocelots by Zimmerman for the MGS2, including the parts for when Liquid takes over.
Spoiler:
EDIT: The game's homepage is pretty nice, check out the character page, they have cast credits for the character's english and japanese VAs. EVA is voiced by Lee Meriwether. Oh and Yumi Kikuchi does the japanese VO for Raging Raven, the english cast for beauty and the beast unit are done by VAs and not the models themselves. They also give a little info on the character's sort of role in the game. Eg. Raiden is "A scout whose armoured exoskeleton conceals the spirit of a true warrior." Spoiler:
