I actually liked all the english voice-overs. Though, I was kinda disappointed with Newbern's Sephiroth, he sounded more calm than devious (kinda missing the monotone quality that Toshiyuki Morikawa had). Oh, also thought Dave Wittenberg did a great job with Yazoo (I think he desires noteworthy mention). Overall, loved all the performances. Also, great how majority of the grunts and groans were identical the Japanese VA's, made the dub less awkward for me.
I'm glad they did a more literal take on the cell phone bit, as that confused a lot of people when they first watched the Japanese version. Oh and as well as the "did we lose to a memory" line, as the dub made it more clear. As for DVD menu, kinda preferred the Japanese version over it as JP version seemed more orderly. Also, kinda awkward how they didn't translate the little dedication/invitation text just before the movie starts, along with the "498 Years Earlier" and the "Northern Cave" text. Just seems sloppy on their part, especially considering how they edited in the english cast for the credits. The subtitles were kinda icky at times too. There would be instances where they were more like dubtitles than subs, and others it's be a more acurate/literal translation. Some of the gags of the Japanese version seems to be lost in translation too (but I'm guessing that most due to the translator's interpretation). Ahh, still disappointed that they didn't reanimate the mouth movements.

EDIT: Oh, and I've noticed that everywhere I've stopped by, AC has been sold out! I'm quite surprised, even a big chain store like HMV had no copies left. Maybe it was a small shipment or something... What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Heh, from some digging I found fan made cosplay sword of Cloud's AC sword (complete form). ![]() Also, it looks like the FFVIII Play Arts figures are released now too. Glad to see they included the lion head chain on Squall's Gunblade. ![]() This guy isn't selling his custom jobs, but they're really impressive. He's even got a video showing how he assembles all 6 swords together. Looks like he finished making the rusted buster sword from the movie as well, along with materia to go into the slots. It also appears that he's done head resculpts for Rinoa (the top 2 pics) and Squall. Ohh, even an ad for the FF8 play arts. http://blog.livedoor.jp/lead007/
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
As for substance, I agree that it's lacking. And I for one think that outsiders to FF7 will only notice/appreciate the movie's graphics and flashy fights (that's what drew others in, like my uncle). Heh, infact that's all I ever watch it for now, and I'm thankful for those assets. Explosions and flashy fights is what makes a movie worth rewatching to me. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Seeing as how a Dirge of Cerberus thread hasn't been started (couldn't find one anyway), and I didn't feel like making, I'll announce it here. Here's a list of the additions, changes, and removals that the NA version of DoC will receive, incase no one knew already.
Source: http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3story.h...916&pid=924449 This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Ah yes, I forgot to mention that those 40 secret missions actually are "adapted directly from the previous multiplayer content." So it was indeed retained.
Not sure about the aiming, but they did mention that slow down when drawing your weapon in aim mode has been fixed. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Definitely gonna pick up the FF8, FF10, and any other subsequent lines they're going to release (which will be FF12, FF13, as images of em were already released). These are really quality figures by Kotobukiya. Also gonna pick up the KH2 figures too. Ahh, this is gonna make a big hole in my pocket. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Sweet thanks for the info about the Reunion Files Simo, definitely gonna import that now.
Also, some info about Crisis Core in this FF13 interview.
Source: http://www.gamebrink.com/news/466-Fi...Interview.html Oh, and this is rather off topic, but the FF8 figs came in on Wednesday. Picked up a set at my local comic shop yesterday. ![]() Disappointed that they didn't include Rinoa's weapon, or her dog even. I was hoping to get her to do some battle poses with the others too. Heh, I also noticed that she has a black ribbon on her left arm. I'm guessing that's where Nomura got his idea/inspiration for FF7AC (just reusing old designs, I guess). Anyway, I'll post more pics of em if they're requested. Most amazing jew boots |
Anyway, here are the pics as you requested Simo! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() EDIT: Oh and it looks like the guy who did the custom swords for Cloud (along with face resculpts for the FF7AC line) also did face resculpts for the FF8 line. Some images of those scaled vehicle series, FF Mechanical Arts, that Kotobukiya is planning to release. They're looking to be really detailed.
![]() ![]() Also some images of those polystone statues of Cloud and Sephiroth. You know, that $400 piece set (about $200 each). ![]() ![]() ![]() What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

![]() Dante's just over 5 inches, definitely smaller than I expected. But the quality of the figure itself was worth it. He comes with the Rebellion, Nevan (which actually morphs between guitar and scythe), Ebony & Ivory, Shotgun, stand, and an alternate open mouth head. Probably the best Dante figure made thus far. ![]() Oh, BTW, Dante can be purchased domestically now (just last week I believe). Thanks to Diamond Comics distributing the figures from the Kaiyodo's Revoltech line! Most amazing jew boots |
My order of the Reunion Files finally came in. Did it through YesAsia for the free shipping. Took over a week, but seeing as how the shipping was free, well I can't complain. Though, there's a little damage to the left top corner of the book that's bugging, which is one thing that I hate about buying books/guides/etc online.
The book itself is bigger and thicker than I expected too. ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
A blow out of new merchandise on the way from Kotobukiya at SDCC.
The biggest news being 1/4 scale deluxe figures of Sephiroth and Cloud! Price tag being $400+ for one, as they come with realistic clothing and detailed weapons. It looks like Cloud actually comes with all 6 sword pieces with the ability to combine together (dream come true)! Just like the custom ones. Man, these figures look incredible, especially Sephiroth in his leather outfit. Now just have to find the money and the justification to purchase both figures. I also wonder how the articulation is (if any) for these figures , as they appear to be hidden, most apparent on Cloud's right arm. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Master Arms are looking great (scaled at 1/6), especially Cloud's AC sword (dubbed Buster Sword). It appears like you can actually seperate his swords into the 6 pieces or assemble them together. Hopefully their scale will be compatible with the Play Arts figures. Would love to use the "Buster Sword" with Cloud. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Mechanical Arts look great as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Source: SDCC 06: Final Fantasy Fans Find Paradise in San Diego This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. Some more images of those Deluxe Figures. The more I look at the pictures, the more I begin to think that their not actually action figures, but rather statues. Maybe I misinterpreted Figures.com's article...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Source: http://photos.actionfigs.com/showgallery.php?cat=1680 You can also find pictures of other FF goodies, by Kotobukiya, there as well. Eg. FFXII, FFX, FFVIII, FFVII AC play arts *Gotta say, that Play Arts Auron looks great. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like his left arm will have much articulation. ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Hmm, I think I might wait till this game makes greatest hits or drops $20 at Future Shop. Heh, interest in DoC kinda deteriorated with the long wait. But maybe that'll change once the hype/ads starting kicking in.
On another not, related to FFX Play Arts, Auron just shipped to stores yesterday! I'll be picking up mine later today, and will try post some pics before I head off to work. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Yea NA release (Japan had em since the end of June, pretty quick distribution to NA). As for FFVIII Play Arts, they're been out since, about, May. Paid $27.95 CAD each for the FFVIII figures, which was the same as what I paid for my AC figs. Probably gonna be the same for the FFX figs as well.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Got the Auron figure yesterday, costed me about $28 CAD (tag price 27.95) didn't have to pay GST cause I'm regular there. Pretty much the same amount I paid for my FF7AC and FF8 play arts.
As for quality of the figure, pretty good. Though Auron's legs aren't as mobile as I had hoped (leg articulation is similar to Vincent's), he could have used a swivel joint between the knee and the hip (like the one used on the FF8 figures). He also could have used a swivel joint between the elbow and shoulder on his right arm. As for sling arm or sleeveless arm, you actually switch in and out pieces. Kind of a bit challenging at first, but simple once you know the trick. One suggestion though, I'd shave off a little of the left arm's bolt joint as well as the socket for the joint itself. As that will make it easier to insert and remove his left arm, and therefore reducing risk of damage to the figure itself when switching between. Overall, an awesome Auron figure. Some pics, will post more in requested. Oh and I'd try to be gentle with figure, as my first Auron's knee joint broke (factory's fault, not mine) so I had to go exchange him for another (which I did on my way to work). The joints at the knee and elbow seem to be quite delicate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, Tidus and Yuna are scheduled to ship next week! FELIPE NO |
OFF-TOPIC: For those who wanted to know.... the FFX Play Arts Tidus and Yuna came out yesterday!
They're pretty cool, but Yuna's leg movement is really limited. Damn dress, there's something funky going on with the joint at her hip, kinda out of place, but because of the dress I can't seem to pop it back in. Also the swivel/twist joint on her foot seem really delicate, one wrong bend and it might break. Oh well, I don't plan on posing her too much, leg wise anyway. Hopefully, Play Arts future lines have less problems. Overall, Tidus is probably the best of the FFX figures for posability, but as far as coolness Auron takes it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Shouldn't this be merged with the FFVII Compilation thread? As I thought it was agreed that all FFVII related discussions were to be left in that thread from now on...
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Holy mother of crap! Someone actually made Cloud's 6 piece AC Sword!!! The thing is so damn detailed, and as movie accurate as possible, plus they can be combined together! However, you gotta be one crazy fan to pay the price tag ($800 USD for the sword + $700 shipping = $1500!!!), especially considering that it's made out of wood.
