Erm, when I see the word "Quickening", Highlander 2 pops into my head.

Now I get to imagine Vaan screaming "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!" after every mist quickening attack.

The judge looks small because the camera is farther away from that than the Ashe/Balthier shots. Still, this looks better than the FFVII AC stuff.

I'd actually would like them to finish up with the 3 remaining characters for the FFVIII line. That being: Irvine, Quistis, and Zell.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

What's great is I'm supposedly at the top of the list where I preordered for the CE Edition. FINALLY they kept the basic elements of an FF cover intact.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

What do you mean by EB games logo on the case? I've never bought a limited edtion game before, so perhaps I'm not aware of this. Perhaps its also a US only thing. So they just put a big sticker saying, YEAH BITCH! RECOGNIZE THAT YOU GOT THIS LE GAME FROM US FOO!

You can actually preorder LE walkthrough guides? Dude. Judging from 50 some preorders for the CE at where I preordered, I should check up on this. I know for sure they have a SKU for the CE, which is how I was able to preorder, but for the gameguide, well...

So you can preorder guides. I should look into this ASAP, at least whatever offers are in Canada. What I'm not looking forward to is all the crappy cosplay of FFwhatever come Oct 31.

I have the same set as you, and my CDs have the two characters. This is the Limited Edition case, where as the ones in the picture posted are the regular OST. Your set probably looks something like this.

What. ROXXORs isn't going to stop me dead in the tracks of getting it. This is still, from what I've seen so far, lightyears away from anything X-2. That was bad. I just hope that other spells and moves don't have "ZOMGBBQSAUCEATTACKFORMASSIVEDAMAGE". Even then, much of the rest of the game seems pretty matured.

It's funny that you'd think I not want to try out this title anymore, considering I'm already quite excited about this title. The Roxxors just seemed like a total oddball outta the blue, that's all. Chill dude.

Yes, the Canadian EB games - physical stores, will carry the Collectors Edition for probably $69.99 CDN. I have already preordered and it will be released on the same day as the regular edition - Oct 31, 2006. However for some reason the store I preordered won't get them Nov 1, probably because as in previous posts people have mentioned that Oct 31 is when the games are shipped from the distribution centre to the stores, but at any rate, whether some stores get it Oct 29th, 30th, or November 2, I'm not too too fussy.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

As soapy has said, better late than never, but being early is almost always better, depending on how bad you want the CE. I would be willing to kill flies (okay, not a major sacrifice, but you get my drift) to get the CE. I just did the easy way and put down my $5. You'll get a receipt that shows you've put down $5, so obviously bring that receipt with you on release day and it's deductable against the purchase price. I might pop in the night before to see if they have any LE walkthrough guides available. I'll have to restrain myself from opening it up though, lest I accidentally flip to the last few pages and spoil the damn thing even before I get the game. That would suck ass.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

But then doesn't that mean that there will be more people that will also buy it? I wouldn't worry so much for the regular edition, but the CE, well, I personally like to be on the safe side.

It's your call.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I don't think it's so much the cover art as is the non inclusion of any Japanese voices, but I'm through and through with that, I'm actually wanting to hear this in English, for the first time. It just seems more... "natural".

I was wandering around in the mall the other day, and walked into the resident Gamestop there. After looking around for a little bit, I heard something familiar coming from the demo station. The titlescreen movie loop to Final Fantasy XII was playing on the PS2 station. So I walked over and got a closer look.

Sure enough, it seems that the station had replaced the PS2 with a Japanese system with the JP copy of FFXII playing. So I picked up the controller and started the game. I skipped past all the intro cutscenes since I wanted to save them for when I got the game, but started up in the tutorial/intro sequence. Everything seemed pretty straightforward, as characters introduced you to walking around, moving the camera, interacting with the world, and basic fighting.

In any case... I played around for something like 15 minutes, before a rather tall figure was standing next to me.

"Hey man, how's it going?"

Not recognizing that he was an employee, or knowing who it was really, I responded "Pretty good."

"Yeah, um, I'm going to have to cut you off... It seems we left the controller attached. We were just going to have the title movie looping for people to see. Can't have anyone playing it, since it isn't out yet."

Busted. So, cooperatingly, I put down the controller and let him take care of setting it back up again. Though we did have a nice conversation about the game. He was skeptical about it, since he was reading about people in Japan that pretty much used the Gambit system to program the party to completely automate itself against any encounter in the game. Sounds somewhat bogus to me, since other folks have also said that the boss fights are pretty challenging and keep you on your toes even with heavy Gambiting.

Anyways, random story from my weekend. Carry on
Cool. So I guess it played out somewhat similarly to the US demo then? I've got a feeling (after also reading some sources) that you can basically just set your gambit AI to whatever you want and get your guy to walk around the battle field. When they encounter, the AI takes over and you can go get some pizza to eat . Of course putting something on auto-pilot isn't always going to yield the greatest results, especially since the game is for you to play.

I don't really see why they had to not let others play it. I mean it would be a perfect opportunity to get more of an experience from it besides the US demo, and let the audience get a better feeling of the game - besides importing the JAP version. I guess they just want to keep a lid on things...

I've heard anywhere from 50 hours just for the bare bones no side quests game play up to 120-130 hours if you do the whole nine yards. Of course, I mind as well get my gaming time worth and do it all. I rarely revisit beaten RPGs.

The longer the better for me in this case. I don't think I've ever thought any RPG I've played was too long. Usually it's the opposite case. The more gameplay the merrier I'll be, again reiterating that for the foreseeable future, I only plan on going through this once. However, my decision may change a few days after playing this title.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I know this sounds pretty shady, but is there a way you could just "buy" it for 20 some days, play the hell out of FFXII so at least you don't get left out, and return it to a store with good return policies? I mean, it seems like a hassle just for a single game, but personally I'd be pretty upset if my PS2 crapped out on me, despite a replacement PS2 being relatively cheap(er) these days at $130 CDN.

That cover reminds me of Goldfinger and his shiny "key" in Austin Powers. SOLID GOLD! Still, the cover still looks lacking without the Judge FFXII logo.
