OH SHIT.

Spoiler:
I've been using Alicia and Rufus for the longest time, because Rufus has such an awesome soul crush hit rating.

Why do you have to level them up? Is it because only then will they give out something good back to you? If so, damn, I better start to get to work then.

If I beat the Palace of Dragon etc, will that be too late then?

DAMN! Now here's the decision. Get basically what could be considered VP2's version of the FFX's Celestial Weapons (which basically made the final battle a joke), or go through it the hard way...

Do these SW have any special attacks as well? If so, DAMN SON!

These might come in handy in the Sepheric Gate.

There IS a Sepheric Gate in VP2, amirite?

The BIGGEST Question I have right now, is can you find that sealstone that gives EXP to everyone in your camp ground BEFORE you fight the "final boss" for chapter three? I don't want to loose those 4 guys just yet.

I was speaking idiomatically.

WOOT. I got to the Palace of Shanghai Dragon. The monsters are somewhat tough, but I think Leone/Dyland are at 25/26 and Lezard and Arngrim are at 31. I got the EXP Friend Sealstone. Most of the battles I'm avoiding since it's a pain to get in and out of this place. I'm surprised you keep saying this game is easy, Scarlet, what stats do you have for your guys even? Well, I'll give it to you that I haven't had a game over yet. I don't worry too much about money. I usually stick with the EXP only seal spheres and sell off unwanted items, which I can usually get about 40,000-50,000 OTHs.

Also, here's the dungeon theme for PALACE OF THE VENERATED DRAGON - Disturb the Doubtful Sleep by none other than Sakuraba. Such an awesome theme that brings back that VP1 feel to the music and mood of dungeon crawling.

Too bad I only have about 2500 crystals right now, I need 4000 to “buy” that sweet EXP Friend sealstone.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Well that aside, the monsters in Palace of Chicken Fried Dragon aren't exactly super easy even at level 31 for Arngrim. I don't have very good weapons for him, and I want to get the Zweizigger sword or something. Some of them I can't even put a scratch on. Lezards magic seems to miss them >_>

VP2 has multiple levels of diiffculty? I'm not too sure.

How do you learn Sap Guard? That's the number one skill I need for my mages or other people, it seems only Rufus has learned it. Do I need to equip more of the ruines that have that property?

Oh I see. I think I'll only play the Seraphic Gate once or something. God, all this time for a second round I think I'll pass. Not too sure still, but I think I'll be sick of leveling everyone up. Oh well, I'm looking forward to these overpowered killer weapons anyways. After that I probably don't have to worry about leveling up.

Why does Alicia in your av look more cute than Alicia in the game!

Those crazy Japs I tell ya.

They get RPGs down to a science. Doesn't matter which boss it is really. >_>

I'm an idiot, you know why? Because I sold off all 90 some of the Tome of Alchemist which turns baddies into Crystals. Of course I didn't know this and now I'm trying to save up 4000 crystals to get the EXP friend sealstone. GOD!

HOLY SHIT! I thought the guy was just only do 1 dmg ever and over but that really added up, then BOOM with the Soul Break.

I just loved the racked up crystals, man I need somethign like that for leveling up now.

How come the Japanese version has them talking more than ours do? I'm jealous now!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Well then, that explains it.

Well, how hard would you say is it to get 1200 cystals, since I'm at 2800 and I need a total of 4000 to get the shared EXP sealstone, I want that! I don't have anymore tome of alchemist or whatever, and killing monsters over and over again is going to take a long time. Which dungeon can I find these things again?

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Woot, I finally got my 4000 now and bought the share EXP stone. Arngrim is at 39, Dyland is at 33, Leone at 30 and Lezard at 38 or something. Still a whiles to go... man!

EDIT:

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arngrim 45 - Dylan 40 - Leone 36 (I don't know if I still want to keep at it), and Lezard 43. I think Alicia is at probably 42 or something like that.

Plus the lowest level Einherjar is at like 33. I like how they were at the maximum HP of like 300 way back at like level 5, but now they're level 30's and the life bar is all yellow.

If anyone wants to do this, learn the training skill as it gives 150% more experience after battle, but you lose out on battle capabilities, but that's barely anything.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

What, then how are you going to survive with like only Alicia and Rufus in Chapter 4? Like a two man super team? Unless more "permanent" people come.

Hey, this has been bugging me for a while. I'm too lazy to dig out my VP1 game, but what age is Lezard and Arngrim when they die (not really a spoiler for VP1), since Arngrim is 26 in VP2. Doesn't VP2 take place hundreds of years before VP1? Then how did Arngrim and Lezard, who are human, stay basically youthful? Unless they have the fountain of youth LOLOLOL.

Herm, I'll have to check out VP1 again when I want to try the hard difficulty. I'll probably just have to pay more attention for that detail. I just thought the Arngrim we see in VP2 is the exact same in VP1 and didn't die until then, which Lenneth said hello to him.

Fight besides two Valkyries in a "life time", that's a real treat!

I was having a "discussion" with Scarletdeath last night which mainly consisted of "LOL NO U" "LOL FFXII SUCKS" "NO U HACK.WHATEVER SUCKS", yeah. Great times.

Quote:
Exactly the reason I do it. I usually stop playing at a save point though. Heh. I find it more convenient at times to just leave it on if I'm not sure if I'm done playing.
I don't do that to my PS2, I'm worried the laser is going to burn out or something, especially that I have an older PS2 from like 4 years ago, 2nd generation I think SCPH-39001 or something. Even though PS2 are cheap these days, like $129 Canadian, I don't want to take that unnessary hit if I can avoid it. I don't think I'll be getting back to VP2 until like Friday, which I can finally find time to venture on beyond level grinding.

Why do it at Crawsus? Go to Palace of Dragon, find the Halo stone, go 2 rooms to the left where you find one of the baddies that craws on the ground holding a sealstone, something called "Bread", and you fight the giant enemy crab (no really), which doesn't do much damage and gets you like 150k experience if you get the 5 orb bonus. That's a super fast way.

Also, get the Share EXP sealstone in the Palace, so you can get ALL your party members to get some experience, not only the active ones.

Truth, get the training skill. It only really takes 3 items to connect, so it's not hard to get. Plus you'll be VERY surprised at how fast your guys can level up. Furthermore don't bother levelling up until you get to the Palace of Vegetable Dragon. Then get the shared EXP sealstone along with the 2 X EXP from the Chateau Obsession. EASIEST and most brainless levelling ever I have done in my life.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hey guys you know what I'm thinking. End of Chapter 3.

Spoiler:
Should I strip Leone ^___^ and Arngrim of all their possessions? So then I can get back my armor and stuff? Ever major character is at level 40 and up, so, I got the two very nice swords and some nice goodies as well.

Our thoughts? I think much of it has been pointed out already.

Pros:

A nice refreshing battle system that really ups the VP1 battle system and now incorporates 3D movement.

Fast battles ++

Recruit tons of Einherjar (warriors), I think there's over 50 of them, me thinks.

Get to understand the story of VP1's side quest in Dipan much better, and appreciate it much more.

GORGEOUS graphics that the PS2 is really pulling off here. Sometimes I wish I didn't rush from one place to the next, because I miss out on some really nice background touches.

Just like the original, you can chain up to 4 SOUL BREAK attacks, given that you reach 100 hits each time.

FREAKING VALKYRIE PROFILE WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE.

Cons:

Lots of level grinding (not absolutely necessary) if you want to be cheap and basically tramp on baddies later on.

A bit weak for the English dubs, but definately not rated at "bad".

You really don't care much for the Einherjar. You don't get to know them as well as the VP1s.

Learning skills isn't the best system, but I personally have no problems with it.

The 2D movement in the quest field seems a bit archaic especially when most are looking forward to full 3D movement like FFXII's quest/battle system, but I have no problems with it, since it keeps with the traditional side scroller that made VP1 unique.

FFXII basically does overshadow this with the hype, I admit, but this isn't a RPG to be missed out on if you're a fan of the RPG genre, and perhaps even adds MORE hype to future RPGs to come.

If you really want to get more opinions and more in depth details, read up on the many reviews on gamerankings.com.

Never got bored of fighting, so the whole level grinding issue everyone bitches about doesn't bother me at all.
Ditto, it's fun and it's very fast if you know what you're doing. Hell now basically most of my guys are overpowered now. At least what I when returning to a certain location where one of your first dungeons are.

Quote:
Didn't see any item or skill that doubles energy gauge like in VP1.
I don't know about doubling, but if you get the HEAT UP skill, that takes 4 slots, it can usually help get even a party of three members to get 100 hits. Just get someone with a weapon that hits 2 or 3 times with it, like Alicia, and generally most battles you can easily score 100 hits. People I know that will get to 100 on the 3rd combo chain when you're down to 40 are Alicia and Rufus (this guy is awesome to continiue the soul break chain and I always put him 3rd in line). I haven't done much with the Einherhars so I'm not familiar with them >_>

I just use training while obviously grinding on easy enemies. After that take off that skill for sure. For Health Regeneration, I'm only getting like +32 hp for Alicia? How did you get 1000? Unless I'm doing another skill (not first aid).

Wow, up to chapter 5!

Chapter 4:
Chapter 4 was short, but so crucial the story. Lol Dylan. I'd hate to see it but I honestly didn't see it with Leone and Dylan.

Also with the main cast at end of Chapter 3 and up:

Also, when you power up your guys enough (level up as stated earlier) and the main cast leaves your party, I noticed that all the weapons and armour are returned to your inventory, so you don't have to worry about lost forevers, thank god. Since I have my Bahamuts Tear with Dylan when he left.

Futhermore, this is the stage where I'm doing an ALL EINHERJAR (no Rufus or Alicia) party. I have Xehnon and Falx and two other dudes. All around level 40, but basically have no skills yet!

How ya doing, buddy?

Tip though. While it has been said and done in this thread before, release Leone and Arngrim past 40. Leone will impart Slashing Sword "Farewell" (if you release her at level 35) and Valkyrie Favor (level 40 release) which is sweet, since Favor alone has 600 ATK. For Arngrim, I suppose departure at 35 gives you a Improved Dragonslayer while at 40 imparts with a Bahamut Tear. Just stating the very obvious, I know.

I ended Chapter 3 with Ally, Ruf, Dyl at level 51. I know.
