That reminds me of Bad Breath from the Great Malboro in FFX.

At any rate, let's just say I'm not READY to take on any level 5 marks yet. Holy shit, I was like..oh the trickster hunt, what can that stupid little chocobo do.

1600 dmg per hit, OH SHI~. That so far is how can we say, something you should run away from, very fast.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

For that side quest of the patient in the desert, I remember she distinctly gave me the key (or maybe it was the patient herself) after all the items were collected. What's interesting though is that I did get the serpent skin, but it seems the game didn't recognize this in my loot, and I got stuck with the lesser goods. At any rate, all 6 of my guys and gals have them golden amulets, so whatever. And don't restart your game of 90 hours, holy crap. Even learning about the Zodiak Spear at 10 hours into the game didn't stop me from continuing on.

Shit son, when can you get these X potions in the game story line? I thought Hi potions were nice ^__^ (for the time being).

In this FF, can we buy Megalixirs - heals your party to 100% HP and MP (in before the LOL FAT jokes come in)? Or does this item just remain as one of those reward type items or treasure chest items?

Shoeless, by the looks of it, you're probably a bit further than me, but don't worry about it. I'm just low on cash and just running around Osmose Plain getting various loots and stuff.

FUCK YES!. I'm not too sure why, but I want that book, along with the Scenario Ultimania and Battle Ultimania, despite my lack of any real game catered Japanese langauge skills.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That viera looks very cute, and I'd hit her, amd that trippy Bangaa looks like a cool dude.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

As an aside

Just in case anyone's wondering where the hell I am and why I haven't really kept on top of this thread for the past few days, I've got final exams and crap to take care of, plus I just need a break from this game, quite surprisingly. I'm pretty burnt out, so I'll be checking up on this thread more regularly come middle December and later on.

Back to discussing FFXII~.

Did you save just soley on one card and one save file? Shit, now I'm glad I've saved on two seperate cards, and like over 70 some save files, 50 on one and 20 on the other, JUST IN CASE.

Holy shit I leave my FFXII alone for like 3 weeks for finals and now I'm so lost in your guy's conversation ;__;.

(I'm still on my way to the Drakor Laboratory, then Archadia. Yes, I know I'm still VERY far behind everyone that's like near or at the final dungeon). I've got some serious catching up to do Saturday after finals.

I'm probably dead last in terms of story progression among you guys. Exams are done and I'm back into FFXII, albeit very tired and somewhat lacking in motivation. I'm up to where I recruit back the 9 moogles to fix the gate to the Phon Coast. I'm about to take on the bomb boss. I'm about 58 hours of play time and so far my party has the following stats:

Vaan - level 21
Balthier - 40
Fran - 26 (starting to use her a bit more now)
Basch - 41
Ashe - 36
Penelo - 34

How do my stats compare to how far I am? Yeah 58 hours already wow.

Man this thread moves at lightning pace, I really mean it.

I just don't like using Vaan, and I never had a liking for Fran. I know this will end up hitting me where I need good reserve characters, so I guess I should start shaping them up as well. I think I've quite a few hankerchiefs, maybe 30 or so just sitting in my inventory. So I hear this boss can be taken on and again and again and you can nab nice goodies.

After two attempts, I managed to take down the King Bomb. He wasn't hard, he just kept using renew, which brought him back to 100%, meaning whatever efforts you did to take down his lackies was in vain, since he keeps respawning them. I used about 10 or so hankerchiefs, and the fight lasted for about a good 25 minutes, seriously. I find that right when the boss is at 25%, that's the most optimal time to quickly hurry up with your quickenings to take out the King Bomb before he regenerates. Also, Mateus helps somewhat in the fight. She's okay to use about half way into the battle.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Mateus with man boobs, okay. About the renew, I think he did the renew TWICE for my 2nd game. The first game I said to hell with it and restarted it, since I wasn't gaining any ground. I was in a pinch a few times, especially when I only have 1 active player in my active party and the others are KOed. I had to rely quite a bit on the cura spell, so that helped me out quite a few times. For some reason now boss battles are getting pretty tough I find, even I found 2nd judge Borgan or whatever his name is to be a tough customer.

Yes, SOLDIER_2825, I do have protect, shell, haste, and regen set as gambits for all my members, however they don't have priority over attacks. Perhaps this is something I should look into for one member.

I’ve read a couple of missed sidequests and the like while browsing through this thread. My question is, besides the Zodiac Spear, what other sidequests, summons, and miscellanous non-story driven activites are considered “lost forevers” in this game? I haven’t really come across any real mini games as of yet, actually. I’m still in the Silkawood.

Some good news and some more good news. I've gotten up to the Phon Coast. I can already tell, as with quite a few other tracks, that the BGM is dumbed down somewhat and compressed, making it sound more synthesized than the OST that I'm accustomed to. I've basically got most of my active party (Balthier, Ashe, Fran (finally) ) with some half decent weapons and armor. I'm really digging the katanas and ninja swords. Even though you can't equip shields, I find their attack power much fun to behold. A good alternative to this is the Platinum Sword which so far is dishing out decent damage. And the other good news? I'm actually motivated to get back into this game again. I have a new liking for Fran, after seeing her in Metal Sphere's CC thread.

I'm still sticking around Phon Coast for the time being. Honestly, not only have I started including Fran in my party more often, I love seeing her with a Katana. I even have her as party leader now. Before she was my 2nd least favorite playable character and now she's up there with Balther. 4 hit combos for the win. How do I increase combos, please enlighten me.

IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!.

Yes, Fran has a certain elegance to her now I've missed before or didn't see before hand. Why are all Viera hot and are all women. How do they reproduce (insert 4chan /h/ material here, NOT). I'd like to get educated on this.

I already find fighting anything over 100,000 HP of life already taxiing, like the Mark III Hunt Ring Wyrm.

And I'm still at Phon Coast. Yeah this area is getting somewhat boring now, but at least I'm using Fran much more, as well as my secondary party.

63 hours.

Vaan 25
Balthier 43
Fran 34
Penelo 35
Basch 41
Ashe 40

I really want to get everyone to at least the mid thirties, so it looks like Vaan requires the most work to get this through. I got him a ninja sword, something called the Kotetsu or something like that, pretty nice weapon. And I'm still so far behind you guys. ^__^

All this party discussion has got me to want to keep all my characters on the same playing field as much as possible, despite me having a greater affinity for the 5 than the odd Vaan out. All three female characters I generally like to have in my party, but either Penelo or Fran a bit more. Balthier is just almost too cool to leave out, since he's basically Han Solo. The main reason I want to keep my party levelled out is I KNOW there will be a battle where my main party is doomed, and I won't hesitate to switch them out and have the reserve party a fighting chance, mind the pun.

Even if the main objective is levelling up or not, I'm also thinking of the long term effects of FFXII in itself as a game. I know for sure once I complete everything and get 100% and beat the game, I am not going to touch this game again for a long time, so levelling everyone at level 99 isn't such a bad idea after all. At least I get my play times worth. And levelling up isn't too too bad.

A two hundred hour game. Oh shi~.

FFX so far has taken me the most time at about 87 hours, and I didn't complete the last Aeon summon - the Magus sisters. Getting 10 of every monster in every dungeon. To hell with that. Althought I'm sure the demands for sidequests in XII are more severe.

You know at this rate, my highest level is 43, and Balthier has about 2800 HP. I haven't looked at the guidebook yet, but logically, would it be safe to assume that a level 99 character has OVER NINE THOUSAND HP, or do you need some special accessory (I'm thinking bubble or something like that)? It's probably linked up with the vitality stats and the like. I need to start reading my book more, and even bring it to work during lunch breaks like right now. Another question is can you break the 9999 damage limit with whatever "celestial" or "ultimate" weapons in this game?

Well that's nice. Basically everyone is almost or above level 42, except Vaan is still at 32, but I'm more than pleased. I just took down those 5 damned tomato faggots. They just kept running everywhere, but I did a pretty decent quickening to take down most of their health down to 1000 hp left, which is somewhat disappointing, considering I think a 14 chained quickening with a concurrance of Whiteout.
