What levels are your characters at, Wolf?

I think my mine are around 15, with Ashe being the highest at 18, and Fran the lowest at 10, since I haven't really used her much.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Walking around regerating MP normally takes way too long, especially if your guys are at high levels and you're depleted your MP to near zero. I should find that charge technick and use it when I'm almost zero MP, this way should it back fire, it won't harm me too much.

I'll keep your post in mind, Jazz. I'll check up on my guide book to see where I should be "steering" my license points for those.

1) Quickenings
2) LP-doubling
3) MP Regenerate (I think I saw this one, but didn't have enough points to get it)

Also, does it matter which character gets what quickening?
Spoiled for the anal people =):

Since there are 18 quickenings in all, and there are 6 characters, and the max that each character can have is 3. So is there any reason for a character to not go for a quickening? Unless I save those up for the 3 special characters that I want to focus on mainly

I'm starting to use the 3 female characters - Ashe, Fran, Penelo and working them up, since they are quite underleveled, and I like to have an even party, if by chance my "male" party gets wiped out by a powerful monster, my reserve party of women, can have a fighting chance when they are swapped in. Plus I like the company of a Girls' Night Out.

So far, I've returned to Rabanastre. I've done 2 of the hunts - the Wraith and the Cluckatrice hunts, the latter being quite difficult, moreso than I anticipated, despite warnings from the guide book.

I've done the Sunstone quest (basically the same thing you did with Vaan and Penelo near the beginning of the game) but I find that doesn't net you very good rewards. You get 200 gil, 2 potions, and 1 holy stone for each Sunstone that you fill up to 100%, so I don't thinl I'll be doing much more of that.

I want to get my guys to probably level 19 or so before the following:

Story driven dungeon:
Tomb of Raithwall, as I hear the Demon Walls are scary as fuck, I mean, god damn that thing gives me the creeps. I know for the first you can just run the hell away, but for the second you have to RUN to it, then start dishing out as much as damage as possible, even with Mist attacks.

Plus, I like taking this game slowly. I've done 5 marks so far, walked probably 100,000 steps, and am about 21 hours.

Last point:

If you have the guide book (I have the limited edition version), flip to page 231, which is the sidequests section. I just want to know if you're seeing typos in this book or if it's something else.

This obviously contains spoilers for a SPECIFIC side quest, but I don't think it affects the main story. :

Read the "Patient in the Desert" quest. It asks you to flip to a page that is marked as "???" [sic]. They want me to flip to page "???", as it's written? For example, read the bottom line of the third paragraph on page 231, right hand column - 'See the "Ferryman Missing" side quest on page ???'). I think this might just be a typo...

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I think that's going to be my next move - do the skeleton run in the Lhusu Mines (that's where you were, right Wolf?), since I found myself quite overwhelmed by their great numbers when I first went in there. Do they automatically respawn even if you don't leave the map? I find most of them okay, but they are pretty good at ganging up. Enough to get the Forgotten Grimore you say? 18,000, that's a LOT. LOL selling all those bone fragments eh?

Quote:
Oh and Spatula, about the page thing, I'm seeing the same thing in mine, too. I have no idea why it's like that, it confuses me O.o It's like they made placeholders but forgot to put in the numbers before they printed or something...
Awesome editing job, I know. ^__^

It's almost like you're on page 231, and it like tells you, refer to page 231, but I'm ALREADY on that page!!!!

Yeah, a single run (just one way across the bridge and back) can net me about 7000, so this should be easy. Can I get to Bhujerbah by the Aerodome in Rabanastre? I don't want to unnecessarily use a teleport stone.

How deep in the mines are you talking about? Some of it seems sealed off to me. If I go to where the magnicite is, there's an iron door there that blocks my way.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

When I'm in an easy dungeon, I have the person with the fastest speed or speed lores to gambit with steal to any foes in the area, while the others attack. Sometimes you can steal from the enemy, then kill it and get it's loot through killing it as well, so that's a 2 for 1 deal.

Also, has anyone gotten the pouch technick? Does it work the same way as mug?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Which voices do you dislike in particular? I personally like Balthiers (it adds to his personality so much), and Basch as well. Yeah some of them are overdone, but I honestly prefer them over the American counterparts of Ashe and Vaan.

On a side note, I like Fran's voice......I like everything about Fran. She is always the party leader and I never take her out of the party unless the game made her leave. She is my strongest character and my version of a black mage. I love the way she looks and I like her tanned skin. She is definitely my favorite character from Final Fantasy since Cloud in FFVII. I have to give it to her, in my view she looks better than Tifa.
On the other hand I really don't care much about Fran, maybe it's the tanned skin (ZOMG RACIST). I initially wanted to use her, simply because of aesthetic tastes, but now I think she'll end up as how Kimahri ended up in FFX, unused and unabused. LOL. I don't really like her voice that much, but it's no where as bad as Vaan "'I'M CAPTAIN BASCH ROSENBURG OF DALMASCA, KISS MY ASS MOTHERFUCKER!!".

I'll probably keep Fran as a reserve/spare should my main party fall, but keep her well levelled as well.

I did like the minigame (despite it being so easy) of Vaan sneaking around the Palace going "HEY BUCKETHEAD" or something along those lines. I'm surprised the guards didn't freak out and slice him, but instead just told him to GTFO.

I'm scared of going in there. ;__; I remember seeing a youtube video of a player fighting them, and not finishing in time .
Damn that thing gives me the creeps. I just read up that you should

Spoiler:
Get all your guys with full MP and mist quicken it, then cast beserk on your strongest melee guys and let them rip.

I tried using the Aerodome shuttle service to Bhujerbah, and I love it! Makes me feel like I'd like to try it. Everyone there is much nicer than the flight stewardess' service I generally receive when I'm flying. ;__;. LOL video games.

I got Ashe up to level 18, with 1000 hp, but the rest are somewhat behind. Fran is the lowest at 12 with only 450 some hp. I think I'll just skip it for now, but I can return to it later on when I'm at a mcuh higher level with better equipment, hopefully.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Hantei, I'd SO trade with you in a heart beat, but too bad you don't like Vaan either. NO BODY LOVES THAT FAGGOT VAAN .

Inhert, that damn EB games guy picked it up from behind the counter. At first I said I wanted another one, and made an excuse that it was dented, but after that I reconsidered and thought perhaps he might have the magic touch and give me a good cover. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. Superstitions only go so far.

Wolf: I did the Skeleton run for 5 hours.

I haven't even gone to whereever this damned TOMB is supposed to be, since I'm not up to being a Lara Croft for now. My party is:

Ashe - 1600 HP - lvl 19
Penelo - 1500 HP - lvl 19
Basch - 1100 HP - lvl 19
Balthier - 900 HP - lvl 18
Vaan - 900 HP - lvl 18
Fran - 700 HP - lvl 17

I focused mainly on getting those augment squares as they REALLY help you out, especially the "plus X hp" and the "swiftness by 10%" or something like that. Basically boosts up your action speed by quite a bit.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The swiftness +10% helps A LOT. If you get all three of them, it's almost like having an auto haste. So if you have all three swiftness (basically reduces your action time amount) and plus haste + berserk, your guys are going to go WILD. Haste + Berserk makes the bar goes 3 times faster, on top of the already 30% hastened speed of the swiftness augmentations.

Freelance Wolf: my guys are lacking in the damage department. They do about 150-200 to the skeletons, and surprising Fran can consistently hit over 200 damage with her killer bow. This isn't as nice as your 400 dmg, but I guess my added HP should help a bit.

With my current stats, you think it's possible for me to take down that Nidhogg hunt in Lhusu mines? I hear that one's much harder than the Cluckertrice hunt.

About the hunts, if you don't do them right away, they don't disappear right? For example if I go to past a certain point (but not beating the game), will all the hunts still be available? I might want to do it that way, do all the hunts at one go before the final dungeon or something.

I was speaking idiomatically.

So most of my guys are handling themselves well. I think the real party I want to start using is Ashe, Basch, and Balthier - which would be my favorite three out of the six. They are leading at the highest levels so far, at level 21 and Ashe has about 1700 HP. I spent about 2 hours cleaning out the following area:

Spoiler:
The 1st Sandsea area with tons of Tuskan Raider wannabes. I'm seeing quite a few Star Wars parallels here. LOL is this really Tatooine.

Also, those elementals (bright shiny balls of GOD) scare the shit outta me. I always turn off gambits (which includes me using curative/green magick) when I'm around them to be safe. They FREAK out of you use a hint of any magick around them, and WTFBBQSAUCE your team in a matter of well, pretty darn quick.

Ah Jesus, I shouldn't have read your spoiler Simo ;__; Again that's my fault. I thought it was someone earlier.

God, now the ending boss and your spoiler are ruined for me. Stupid me having to accidentally look at the end boss notes in the walkthrough right before the sidequests, which was what I wanted to see.

Now I just put some paper fasteners to seal those pages up until the right time.

Quote:
The one I was talking about earlier was the Salamand something-something, and it was NASTY huge. Even the Yensa desert guys were attacking it. I decided to help... Bad idea.
YES! I saw that one and FLED the hell away. I turned off all gambits and just RAN.

Quote:
Even at my level I still fear those elementals. First time I saw a huge fire ball just floating there I thought I could take it but you either need incredibly strong magic or a very high quickening combo. And when I mean high, I mean you better be prepared with that trigger finger.
I still hold the r2 button whenever I come near those, atleast they're slow.
Thank GOD they are generally friendly and don't come after you if you don't piss them off. I like how the Dinosaur in Esterland is chopchop compared to these guys. I wonder if I can take on the dinosaur yet :gets eaten alive: or those werewolves in Giza plains.

Simo, I'd hate to say it but I hope it's just your copy. I did buy both the collectors and regular, but they are probably the exact same game besides the labels on them. Hopefully you can talk to EB? I should have gotten the $2 insurance that EB gives. DAMN!

Yeah, I like this setup with the characters, as it lets you configure what you want each character to be, whether knight, mage, long range attacker and such. So far, I haven't changed the weapon types for any of the characters, but I'm interested in seeing what these "measures" look like and how they fucntion. They look somewhat like sextants to me, used in naval navigation.

In any case, I know it had about 42,000 HP [used Libra], and using that 19-hit Quickening only took down about 12,000 or so. I don't know if I'm brave or stupid, but I've leveled up a bit since then [I'm now average 25-26], and I'm gonna try the thing again. Will post the results soon.
The best of luck to you man. I think the toughest enemy I've fought so far is probably one of the hostile sandpeople which is in Ogir-Yensa Sandsea. You'll find him in the middle of the three pronged fork, and he's by the refinery guarding passage to the next area. He has about 6000 HP, I think, and casts protect. He basically wasted Ashe, who had the highest at 1700 HP.

Here's just a very minor thing I noted, which really doesn't affect my view of the gameplay or anything. But like with most RPGs currently, I wish these RPGs would actually show your characters wearing the new gear and equipment you equip on them. I know this sounds silly, but when I put on some heavy armour and a helm for Vaan, he looks exactly the same as if he were to start out with the simpliest of armour (correct me if I'm wrong). I haven't noticed if the weapons look different. I'm sure in FFVIII, you could tell the different weapons, for example Squall's Lionheart looked MUCH different than the regular gunblade, or as with FFX, Tidus ultimate weapon looked massive, as compared to the default Brotherhood blade.

Of course it's with the limitations of the technology of the PS2, but I think it'd be sweet to have this. Metal Gear Solid 3 did this quite well with Snakes' constant change in camouflauge, but then I don't think the engine have to do so much processing power, as the NPCs and enemies were far fewer in any given screen/stage. Just my 2 cents.

Hopefully we might see this in FFXIII, but I have my reservations. Just a thing that I'd like future gen RPGs to adopt.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Flaming bastard LOL.

Good job, although I'd rather fight 40 skeletons and get the same result in exp, plus 1 LP for each, plus they drop bone fragments for 190 gil each ^__^.

So at least I know I won't bother with it. I might do it once just for the hell of it. Also, I find my mist quickenings aren't very powerful. They may pull of maybe 500 HP dmg per each mist ( Each char only has 1 quickening so far), so maybe that's why the power isn't very good.
