Kaiba
Kaiba カイバ ![]() Firstly, this series will turn off a few people, not because it is a poor series, just because its art style really unusual. This has to be the most original series I have watched in a long time. I've been burnt out on the relatively homogeneous moe style most series have been using lately. The animation is the first sign this is something more, it is very easy on the eyes and despite its simplistic and childish look, there are many signs of meticulous quality. Furthermore the Kaiba's style fails to belie the adult themes if this series, a children's show this is not. The music complements the series very well and is refreshing among the sea of J-music trash we hear in most other series. The story is what really keeps the series interesting. The concept is memories can be converted to data and be effortlessly transferred from body to body; this is mostly done by the rich and they sometimes steal bodies from the poor if it's particularly attractive or unique. Warp (the main character also referred to his nickname Kaiba) wakes up with no memory of a previous life and is thrust into a world and society that he finds cold and soulless. I won't spoil any more other than to say the OP is a big hint on what will be the main focus. Right now only [F-B_Ureshii] is subbing Kaiba and is Give a few episodes a try and see how you like it, unlike the heavy hitters like Code Geass, Macross and their ilk, this series is very much original, possibly the best most underrated anime of the year. How ya doing, buddy?

Man it really makes me sad that Geass, Gurren-Lagann and Soul Eater seem to be more well liked than this, I really hope someone out there will see the series and appreciate it's art style and story.
