I can pick between the GeForce 7900GTO or the 7950GT, according to the tests I've found the GTO seems to outperform the 7950, however, that is the 256mb 7950GT and the one I'm looking at is 512mb, so... help?
I have an XFX 7950 GT which performs incredibly well. It has gotten a 5290 in 3DMark06 and always has framerates above 60 in games like WoW, Battlefield 2 and so on. For future use it also supports HDCP should you ever decide to get HD-DVD and Blu-Ray movies and use a LCD with a DVI connection. It probably just comes down to price though, most flavors of the 7900GT/GTO
(GTX even) and 7950GT's difference in performance comes down to less than 10 fps under most circumstances, but I'd recommend the 7950GT for the bang for the buck.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Have you checked out the XFX 7950GT? It has no fan, because (apparently) it doesn't need one! I hope that's true because mine maxes out at 80 degrees C when it's under heavy processing loads.

I just looked at the XFX card, it seems to have some sort of "ultimate cooling technology" - I've just never heard of XFX before, is it generally a good brand?
Mine works quite well, it does however max out at 80+ degrees celcius. I don't know if that's too high (nVidia control panel says it's not dangerously overheating until it hits 130 (!) degrees celcius). If you do use the XFX cards, give it plenty of clearance from other wires and devices.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
