Heroes of Might and Magic II:
If you like turn based RPGs and like RTS style build up of units, you'll love this game. It has atmosphere, heart and some great cartoon style graphics. I think it's the best HoMM game in the series and represents the pinnace of PC gaming (in that magical 1997-1999 era).

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Yes, well either game is a good choice for some turn-based fantasy all night sessions. For such a slow paced game, it's extremely addictive.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Back in the day, I heard Independance War was good (I've never played it myself). Also you should give Aliens vs Predator 2 a try. It perfectly reflects the atmosphere of the movies, playing as a Predator never gets old. It's like playing 3 different fps games.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Some classics to give a try:
--The Ultimate DOOM
--X-COM: UFO Defense
--Civilizaion 2
--Sim City 2000
--Sim Tower
--Alpha Centari
--Populous III

They all hogged quite a bit of my time and are really cheap to buy (I could give you a Windows compatible verision of X-COM if you want it).

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Some good freeware games:
Warning Forever, vector based ship combat game, quite addictive and very challenging.
GlTron, lets you race with the light cycles, not much more to say.

They're both free and fun to play, give both a good try.
