I will agree that the Nintendo conference was lacking this year, but honestly, has anyone watched the Microsoft and Sony conferences. Not much better. Sure, Microsoft had a bunch of games to show, but X360's been around a full year longer than the PS3 and Wii. Here we find ourselves at the dead period. Now is when consoles just release stuff and putter around until it's time for another big hardware development. The last two E3s we saw exciting new hardware at it's best, and (some) launch titles to get excited about (well, except for Sony i guess).

Now that all the excitement has died down, Wii, like PS3, is still trying to find it's footing that it has to stand on for the next few years. Wii Motion Plus is definitely a step in the right direction in terms of refining the technology to better achieve the objective it set out to accomplish.

I remain optimistic for Wii and the potential therein. I'm not sure about you guys, but summer has always video game void, or at least i've thought so. As to why E3 was moved to July is beyond me, and i sort of expected something like this. There's time, and other conventions to look forward to. I can't justify sealing Wii's coffin yet.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm posting not to continue the argument, or fling more shit, but in the interest of discussing some of my observations against the one's you've made thus far, Shin.

Two things here really. The market they've always had has been collapsing since the N64. Each generation sees them lose more and more market share so it would seem that "Sticking with what we know" is a losing strategy. I never said that they've not brought in new customers, what I suggested is that these new customers don't buy many games each.
I think it's that these new customers are still just into buying the "non-games" like Nintendogs, Wii Fit, Wii Sports. Therefore don't Wii Music, and Wii Sport Resort seem like a step in the right direction for the new target audience.

And then again, look you said people who remained loyal. You mean people who fell for the marketing tricks and have an irrational sense of brand loyalty right? Well fervent as Ninty's fanboys are (And you're a damn good example, not quite RABicle but not bad at all), there aren't enough of them to keep the Wii profitable.
No more than all the people who bought Halo 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, and will buy Gears of War 2 and Halo Wars. I'm not quite sure about the last part of the statement, cause despite the abysmal performance of the Gamecube, Nintendo made amazing amounts of profit off of it, even with Mario Sunshine being as sub Mario 64 as it was, and the stereotyping of Wind Waker.

The very point I've been trying to make, is that yes, Nintendo do diligently re-release Mario and Smash Brothers and Zelda every couple of years and the brainwashed "Loyal" customers lap it up and buy every new version and now a lot of people have bought a Wii for a bit of Wii Sports action but if this is as ambitious as Nintendo get, then they will only see further reduction of their market share as their competitors manage to launch a much bigger range of products and as such cater to the mass market (Where all the money is).
I'm just curious here. Do you think that Mario main series games, Zelda games, and Smash bros. are bad games that only those who have been brainwashed will enjoy? Again, i think Nintendo is doing a pretty good job of keeping the new non-gamers hooked with Wii Music, Wii Sport Resort and whatever else they may come up with in the future. Aside from this, they're releasing a Call of Duty game for Wii, as well as a full motion capable light saber game. That's a pretty good step towards drawing in the mainstream. There are many CoD fans, and more Star Wars fans.

You imply that every Xbox game is a bland shooter or driving game but there's a reason for that, it makes them a shit load of cash and the whole point of my arguement this whole time, had you done me the courtesy of actually reading any of it instead of frothing at the mouth and going into defend the motherland mode on me, was that financially, Nintendo need to grab a slice of the mass-market pie otherwise they're going to struggle to maintain the Wii as a commercial product.
Well, re-iterating my point of holding onto the non-gamer market comes in here as well. It's my personal opinion that with Nintendo's new approach to the non-gamers is a great way to remain profitability. Wii has the largest of console market share, and the DS is the most selling platform as of yet. While Nintendo does all this non-game stuff Microsoft is busy trying to implement a TV show access system on Xbox, why? With the existence of TiVo, and free streaming on the internet, i can only imagine it's an attempt to glean more cash from the smaller user base they currently have.

Or in other words, Nintendo has made the same nine games over and over again for the past few years and of those, Animal Crossing is hardly mass market and a big money spinner.
Again, it's not like Twilight Princess was bad. In fact it was fantastic. As was Metroid Prime 3. I haven't played Mario Galaxy yet but i'm excited to do so. Plus my mom and sister (who have always treated video games as swear words) have expressed strong interest in the original Animal Crossing game. I'm pretty sure those two (as non-gamers) could get behind Animal Crossing Wii.

Aside from that it's not working, I guess I can't argue with that. You're right, Nintendo should stick to making lifestyle games and kids games and just keep rehashing their main titles for the "Hardcore" gamers who stuck by Nintendo through thick and thin because the ad-men told them to. Bravo.
Well, if they up their advertising capabilities i don't think this sounds like a bad strategy at all. Make sure the non-gamers know about the non-games coming for Wii, continue to make high quality Zelda and Metroid games (which i follow "blindly" because i happen to really enjoy them) for the people who want to play them. Plus, don't forget, Wii has rock band, and guitar hero working for them, as well as a few steps towards the mainstream audience.

You win this time Captain Nintendo!

I'm quote this cause that picture's pretty awesome/hilarious.

please remember, i'm not trying to rile up any more arguments, i'm just curious about some of the points you've made thus far.

Most amazing jew boots

I'm honestly just curious. He keeps trying to nail NovaX on being a fanboy with "undentable" loyalty towards a company he thinks is due to go belly-up any day now, but seems to be overlooking some points, purposefully or not, i don't know. Yes i know i've historically been a Nintendo fanboy, but these are some points i'd like to hear his take on. I'm not looking to shit fling, i'm interested in a discussion.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
