My gut churns when I have see Shin has replied to a thread concerning Nintendo. This one wasn't too bad though, there were some positive points, although they're thinly veiled insults, but hey.

Whether people will be willing to pay full price for a boxing game when you get one in both WiiFit and Wii Sports remains to be seen and I suspect that except for nostalgia fans, the answer will be no.
There's definitely a discernable difference between Wii Boxing and Punch-Out (assuming, of course, it follows the same ol' Punch-Out structure.). There's ALOT more strategy to Punch-Out, it's not just about flailing your arms about. It's a game as opposed to a mode or side-game. I think there's definitely an appeal for a deeper, more focused, strategised boxing game.

Still it's Punch-Out, whether I'm pushing a button or swinging my arms, it's still a whole lot of fun. Assuming they don't somehow totally break the game, this is a purchase for me.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well they're throwing Classic controls into the game as well as motion-sensitive ones.

Control options:

* Motion Control (Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers)
Punch-Out!! uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to simulate throwing punches. Use the Nunchuk to throw a left punch and the Wii Remote to throw a right punch.

* Classic Control (Wii Remote NES™ style)
Fans of the NES version and core gamers will be excited to see Nintendo has also included the option to play Punch-Out!! using the classic layout from the original NES controller. Use the 1 and 2 buttons along with the cross pad to throw hooks and jabs or to dodge.
Also it looks like it's just going to be a remake with different boxers and such. While it's nice to hear the Punch-Out gameplay won't be touched too much, it's sort of sad they didn't try something new with it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

First review is gooooood.

Especially when the series in question is Punch Out!!.

Had it been too tricky, the vast majority of Wii owners would have been put off. Like it or not, the Wii's audience is very different from that back in the days of the SNES and NES. Had it been too easy, though, the game would have certainly upset the hardcore Nintendo gamers; long time fans who have been waiting upwards of 14 years for a new Punch Out!! to emerge. This is a tricky tightrope to cross, and yet Next Level Games have done it with ease. On a unicycle. While juggling fire.

...

Pros:
+ Looks absolutely incredible
+ Boxers ooze character
+ Classic Punch Out!! gameplay
+ Easy for n00bs, hard for pros

Cons:
- Multiplayer mode is weak

Overall:
The best Punch Out!! game yet. Accessible for newcomers, but a real challenge for experts.

Total Score: 91% (Gold Award)
Best Punch Out!! yet? We'll have to see about that.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I want me some punch out but 50 dollars is too steep for me for a game that only throws you against 13 fighters. Why couldn't this game be 30 dollars too? =\
In the review (which now most of it has been removed) they mention that once you beat the games main Exhibition mode against the 13 fighters in "World A" the "World B" opens up. In World B all the character have revised strategies and act almost like completely new characters. The example given in the review is Glass Joe gets a helmet so now hits to the head are no longer effective against him.

So it does sound like they've actually tried to provide a worthy experience for the price.

I was speaking idiomatically.
