Mario Kart 8 - 20 points
Ambient anger noises.

Bravely Default - 15 points
I’m a sucker for a good job class system, so this was right up my alley. You have to play pretty much the same boss battles 6 times to see the true ending, and some of the plot choices don’t make sense, but the gameplay and music are way above par. Here’s hoping the sequel corrects the original’s missteps.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare - 15 points
PvZ was an afterthought for us when we bought our Xbox One; there just aren’t that many games. Surprisingly, Tritoch and I have probably played it more than Titanfall at this point, mostly because the community has remained populated. It’s a competent shooter with neat weapons and modes, and EA has been good about adding new content. What other game lets you capture tacos?

Titanfall - 10 points
This is the main reason we bought an Xbone. It’s every bit as fun as you’d expect a game about giant fighting mechs to be, but unfortunately everyone stopped playing when the new CoD came out. Also, the weapon selection is pretty bare-bones. Another one that I’m sure will be greatly improved by the inevitable sequel.

Theatrhythm Curtain Call - 10 points
All the best things from the original Theatrhythm, with tons more songs and continuing DLC from non FF games. Way less annoying to unlock characters too.

Smash Bros WiiU/3DS - 10 points
Another Nintendo system, another Smash Bros. The portable version is ok, but the WiiU version is where the new levels and characters really shine. Lack of support for more than 4 players online (even for some kind of tournament lobby) is the only thing holding it back.

Hearthstone - 5 points
I know, I know, why a free-to-play card game? Because it’s very well put together, not pay-to-play, and works great on tablet and PC. It’s an awesome way to waste 15 minutes, and you’re never that far from earning another booster pack.

Shovel Knight - 5 points
I missed out on backing this on Kickstarter, but it’s amazing how well this 8-bit homage turned out.

Chariot - 5 points
I can’t recommend this if you don’t have a local friend, but the couch co-op puzzle solving is great. I don’t understand why there’s no online multiplayer.

Valiant Hearts- 5 points
I just picked this up on the winter Steam sale, so I haven’t finished it, but what I’ve played so far is fantastic.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
