My Premium 360 is hooked up via component cables, and it's outputting in 1080p.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I know there are people like that out there, but seriously, who buys a 360 and doesn't get Gold? The whole point of the system is online multiplayer, and without Live you've just got an overpriced Wii with no motion controls that breaks every so often.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If you check out places like Sears, you can find a 20GB hard drive new for $60 or so, which make the Arcade pack not so bad. Tritoch is getting a 360 for Christmas, and I've considered buying the Arcade pack, if only because we'll need a memory card to move saves between systems (rather then lug our respective consoles when we visit each other). The big drawbacks I see are 1) the Arcade pack only comes with composite cables, though there is an HDMI slot, and 2) it doesn't come with a headset. That's just downright stupid.

How ya doing, buddy?

UNO IS NOT CRAPPY.
Perhaps not, but once I get my 40 win acheivement, I doubt I'll play it again unless I get invited to a game.

I'll update tonight, but I hear the Xbox Originals take 3-5GB of space. Unless you've got one of the newer 120GB HDs, that's not really going to be workable.

Any kind of speed up on the menus is welcome.

24. Option to disable invites from titles not on gamercard (excludes demos).

Now I won't get invites to play Halo 3/CoD4.

Otherwise the things you listed sound like the very few things that Nintendo got right with their online service. Having the option to gift MS Points (why not XBLA titles?) is one of the few things that's missing from XBL. Plus it's about time they gave us group chat.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

If anyone still cares, it appears Mr. Driller has been patched. For all of you who didn't beg Microsoft for a refund, get online so I can find some opponents.

I played a bunch of games with Tritoch before I posted with no problems. I just bought the game over the weekend, and thus far I haven't found anyone else online, probably because news about the patch hasn't been widespread.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I'd be more optimistic about Aces of the Galaxy if I had heard of it before this weekend. Good games don't usually pop up out of nowhere. Still, I'm curious to try the demo.

Xbox Experience? Wow, I thought that Experience as a management buzzword had died out with the 90's.
Let's not forget this is from the company that brought us Jerry Seinfeld/Bill Gates doing nothing. They're hardly up on what's hip these days.

Here's my chubby av, though she has lighter skin than this on my system:
You call that chubby? I have yet to see any overweight avatars, and some look downright anorexic. Please tell me that BigTurnip will be able to represent.

Here's mine, although it doesn't much look like me. The clothes are right, but the hair and body size are completely wrong. Microsoft would like to pretend that none of us enjoy the occasional donut.

I wasn't aware Tails was a member of the Mod Squad.

On a sort of related note, does anyone know if I buy a prepaid year's gold membership and activate it now, will it kick in now or wait until this year's subscription runs out then kick in? I only ask as my subscription expires while I'm on holiday and I don't want them charging my credit card really.
It only kicks in once your current subscription expires. You can stack several years' worth, as far as I know.

As long as they don't try to charge anything to it, I don't think it matters.
