Jeanne d'Arc

No thread for this game yet, and it comes out next week? This must be remedied.

Step into a colorful world where history meets fantasy, taking part in a magical tale inspired by the life and times of the legendary Joan of Arc.

The story begins far in the past, when a great war was pursued by mankind against demonic armies attempting to enter the human world. Five brave heroes created armlets to restrain the demon gods.

Enter the 15th century, as France and England battle during the Hundred Years’ War. In a quest to turn back the rueful army, a young crusader named Jeanne is commanded by voices to use the power of the mysterious armlet that appears on her wrist to seal away the demon king and recover her homeland once and for all.

-Command up to 7 characters at a time and embark on a crusade in a 15th century fantasy setting of ogres, dragons and magical powers.
-Explore ransacked villages and battlefields with visuals and cinematics that bring the world to life.
-Tactics style action with unique team-based strategy of attacks and defenses.
-Developed by Level-5, creators of the renowned Dark Cloud series and the critically acclaimed RPG Rogue Galaxy™

The game has an average score of 87 right now on Metacritic, and this is the first PSP game I've really salivated over. Sure, FFT: War of the Lions is coming out in October, which I'll happily snatch up, but this is a brand new SRPG on the underutilized PSP.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Given that the plot revolves around demons helping the English conquer France, there would have to be some changes from history.

I'm a bit concerned about the timed element of battles; from what I gather, some, if not all, battle must be completed in a certain number of turns. Sure, it adds to the strategy element, but I don't care for constraints like that.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

The ship date was yesterday, so that should mean it's in stores today. Best Buy's locator doesn't show any, but it wouldn't even let me search yesterday. I would imagine once stores open, it'll show up in stock.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I can't help but feel Colet and his constant bickerings originally didn't revolve around his accent in the JP version...
No kidding. His death speech (something like "This lacks a certain je ne sais what") is just stupid. I can't help but think it would have been better if they'd just had everyone speak French and subtitle it (for the cutscenes at least). Also, why is there a French character named "Roger"? Shouldn't it be "Roget"?

Translation gripes aside, this is the best SRPG I've played in a very long time, and this is coming from someone who didn't like Disgaia. The difficulty is just right, and there's some real strategy involved in planning out your moves; you can't just bum rush the enemy and hope to win.

Using Jeanne's transformations to deal massive damage is simply awesome. You get the enemies' hit points low enough, then just go around using Godspeed to wipe out half the army. I seriously considered giving up the first battle of Chapter 3 (against Bartholomeo) last night when 4 of my 7 party members died, but then I used Jeanne and Gilles' gems to kick some serious ass. I ended up winning with only Jeanne and a troll left at the end.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?
