I'm not crazy about guns, but you'd have to be insane not to own one these days. Too many nut jobs out there who will break into your house while you're in it - nevermind waiting until you leave for work like the old-fashioned, respectable robbers used to do back in the day - and kill your ass for a DVD player and fifty bucks.

Here's what we have. I'm not sure what it is, but it's a Smith & Wesson something. It has a clip and the hammer is the kind where you pull back on the barrel until you hear the bullet click into place.



I wouldn't hesitate for a second to use it if I needed to, and I'm really glad we have it.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I wasn't planning on putting it in the Miss Pistol USA contest. I'd only ever use it to shoot someone who tried to harm my family. Why does it need to be pretty?

I used to think that, too, until one day when I was home alone with my (then) 3-year-old son and my security system went off. I scooped him up and ran into my bedroom, shut and locked the door, stuffed him under the bed and grabbed the pistol and loaded it.

Turns out a stick had been blown against one of our windows hard enough to cause the glass break sensor to go off, but in retrospect I'm glad it happened, because until then I never knew how I would handle a situation like that.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

A person who breaks into your home while you're there isn't after your stuff. If that's what he was after, he'd scope out your house and wait until you left, then break in.

I think that any rational person can safely assume that if a person invades your home while you're obviously at home, they're there to do harm to the people inside, not to steal your DVD player.

How can you be sure that a person strung out on drugs is going to have the mental capacity to know when they've gone too far? I highly doubt that a person flying on PCP is going to bust in my door and then politely say, "Excuse me, ma'am. Would you be so kind as to direct me to your valuables? I'll just relieve you of a few and then I'll be out of your hair." Also, I have children to protect, and as I said before, I live out in the middle of the woods by myself (i.e. no husband at home). I'm not about to trust anything to chance.

It's because you're being retarded, keener. You make statements as if you know the demographics and crime rates on every area of the country, which you clearly do not. I'm just tired of arguing with you, and that's the plain and simple of it.

I told you about the three murders that have occurred in my neighborhood, yet you still act like you aren't convinced that there's a need for a gun. Also, you say things like, "What if someone takes that gun and uses it on you?" which is fucking ridiculous because they'd be dead as soon as they started toward me.

I'm not some crazed killer, but I know how to use a gun and I have absolutely no problem using it if I feel threatened in my own home. Whatever you say won't change my mind. This is America, punkin. I have the right to bear arms and I'm going to take advantage of it.

I'm tired of arguing with you. Your points are weak, and I'm bored.
