It reminds me of the problems the first generation PS2's had when they first came out - I unfortunately was one of those people who had a defective 1st gen PS2. Can anyone shed some light on the 360 subject for me? Is it safe to go outside buy an Xbox 360?
If you've waited this long you may as well wait a bit more. There will probably be a price drop sometime soon after the holiday season. Furthermore I believe I've heard rumors about an uptated model which addresses some of the issues of the current one.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Wondering if anyone could help

looking to buy premium package xbox360 PAL, or just the 360 with the harddrive and 2controllers.

Looked on ebay UK but having a hard time actually winning anything on there, im a noob at bidding. Anyone know of anywhere i can get a bargin??
Second hand Xbox 360s are probably a bad idea. The chances of anyone selling one of those this early in its life because they "just don't want it" are probably not in your favor. Sure there will be those that may want the money to get Wiis or PS3s, but chances are they were one of the problematic units from within the launch window of the system.

Odds are in the long run you're better off buying one new, and certainly NOT a core system. I'd say wait till a price drop, but who knows when that's going to happen. I figured it would last year, but with the Grand Canyonesque price gap between the current systems there's no need for Microsoft to drop the price of the system.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Hey guys. =)

I noticed that Earth Defence Force is actually finally out here the other day, and it's $40 cheaper than the average 360 game. Want so bad. There's a shit load of awesome games out there that I'd like to play on the system (I already own Dead Rising :thanksstolengoodspawnshop: ) along with the tidal wave of incoming stuff like Eternal Sonata, Brothers in Arms, Mass Effect, Alan Wake if it still exists, GTA IV and so awwwwn.

It's just that the mass hardware fuck ups I've read about scare me. I've already wasted a lot of money on a Wii that Nintendo refuses to actually repair, I don't want to deal with that nightmare again with an even more expensive machine. Has there been any update AT ALL to that 65mm CPU or whatever the hell they were talking about late last year that was supposed to reduce the red ring of death?
If you want to be a dick and your Wii is out of working condition you can just take the parts out of yours, go out buy another one, swap the guts, wait about 3 weeks, take the former back and just say you got one for your birthday.

I believe systems get the full return policy unlike games which cannot be returned once opened.

How ya doing, buddy?

So you still have to use a VGA cable to get 1080p correct? As I understand it component cables only go up to 1080i.

Hey I just got an Xbox 360, and I've got a couple of questions

I'd like to do media sharing with my computer, but apparently I can't unless I verify my copy of Windows XP. Unfortunately It's not a 100% legit copy thus I can't use WMP 11. I was wondering if you guys knew any way around that.

Secondly I've tried to connect my iPod to a 360 and apparently it doesn't recognize all of the files. I have about 10K + songs, but it only sees about 8700.

My last question is whether or not you can connect USB hubs to the ports in order to connect more devices?

I was speaking idiomatically.

I'm gonna try out that TVERSITY now, but I just found out a bit more on the iPod issue.

Apparently that's only a problem in-game. When I view it via the dasboard it sees everything. Weird.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Hey guys, I've just got a few more questions.

I got TVersity to work (thanks Skills), and currently I can play songs and make playlists via the music tab, but I'm wondering if I can use the Media center selection, what it does and if there's any difference.

Secondly with alot of music navigation can be a bitch. I notice if you use the arrows on the controller it scrolls song by song, but if you connect a USB keyboard and hit page down it does 10 at a time. That's a big help, but I'm wondering if there isn't a better feature that lets me jump to certain songs or artists. Better yet can I create playlists on my PC and have my 360 recognize them?

Next is there any way to tell if my 360 is one of the models with the newer processors in it? I've had it for 3 days and it's frozen at least 3 times. It's in a well ventillated area , so I'm a little nervous.

Lastly I'm trying to find some good 360 games that aren't FPSs. Halo 3 is a must for me, but beyond that I'd like to keep this genre to a minimum. I've been through Gears already and while phenomenal I'm not sure if I want to purchase it (how's the online mode BTW?), and I may try Bioshock, but beyond that the only game that I really want is Mass Effect. Any suggestions?

edit: A couple of more questions. I found out you can change the background by uploading pictures which is cool. I was wondering if there's a way to select a picture for your gamerpic as well? And I see that there's a web browser you can use on the 360 with Win XP media edition, but is there an alternate solution to this as well like TVersity is with files?

Am I the only one disgusted by Microsoft's lack of creativity when it came to Avatar art style? I mean could they try any harder to make it Mii 1.5?

That aside I do like the new look and feel, it's really slick and far less clunky and more open than the old design. I'm currently installing a game, and hope to see some improvement here.

The only thing that would make this update complete is for me to get better iPod playback. Although I'm able to use my computer now there may come the time when I want to use my iPod for music again. First of all ~ 10,000 songs in Xbox Media player gets reduced to ~ 8400 in the game, it takes forever to access in game, and shuffle wasn't really shuffle (it was more like skip a song or 3, play next track). I understand that system resources had something to do with this, but I'm hoping that this is something that can and was solved with the update. We shall see.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Has anyone here ever used MS' disc replacement program? I got a busted up Halo 3 disc here that refuses to load and I was considering sending it in, but it looks like it's $20 a pop, if the send off paper is to be believed.

Worth it?
I've never heard of this. What does it cover? How does it work? It seems to me that buying one of those Disk Doctors or buying games used would be just as good with the former being a reusable investment.
