[PSP] PSP Discussion. Hay guys I just got one for Crisis Core, can u help me how 2 hax pls?

I don't know about 8GB, but 4+ sounds about right. What you'd have is a portable that's got all the benefits of optical and cartridge based memory. Sony could essentially make the PSP take an image dump of the games and load them into the internal memory. There'd be minimal load times, and other than the initial drain from the dump it should be better on battery life (if played for long periods of time to account for the large drain from the dump).

Also as was said above better control pads would be nice, and perhaps a more scratch resistant coating.

Hell the memory alone would be a gigantic improvement.

As for "shooting themselves in the foot". This is what companies do. If you've got a hot product it's going to sell int he holiday season regardless. The amount of consumers that would hold off buying a PSP based on a whisper of an internet rumor is not enough for them to hold off releasing the product, or increasing their timescale. Furthermore I believe their fiscal year starts in March. I say a new PSP is a good way to kick things off.

Hell I'll do you one better than that, how many popular systems haven't gotten remodels? While this rumor may not be true a remodel at some point in time is pretty much inevetable.

I can and you can, but PSP homebrew is a relatively underground thing. A PSP with these capabilities would go over well as an official release.

A 60 gig HD would be so far beyond necessary for your everyday consumer that it's not even funny. Especially a new one that's just been released. If the PSP did get an HD upgrade it would most likely be to something along the lines of a 20 gig one. A good size for your average consumer that Sony wont have to worry about a high price tag for.

That aside what's the best site for easy to sift through PSP upgrade news? I got mine on launch (firmware 1.50) and have been so satisfied with it as a portable NES I haven't bothered to attempt, well, anything. I just saw that the PS1 emulation has been hacked (!)

Hey I've had a PSP since launch, but I'm WAY behind the times. Basically it's been my forgotten system. The only reason why I'm going to get back into it is because there's a handfull of games that I'm now interested in, and I'm going to get the slimline one so I can play the games on TV.

To tell you how far behind I am my old one is still running ver. 1.5. And I haven't used it for anything outside of NES and substandard Genesis and SNES emus. I'm trying to get back up to speed, and I know that this is the thread to ask for help in, but all of the cross-talk and jargon is a bit overwhelming. I'd like to know how to play PS1 games and I'd like to know what the better SNES and Genesis EMUs are. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for all the help guys, but I'm on vacation and it appears asthough I've left my USB cable at home, so I can't do any updating right now. I've bought 3 games (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, MGS portable ops +, and Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow), and I'm wondering if I should wait to do firmware upgrading or if it's okay for me to go ahead and play the games and deal with the software hacks when I get back home.

What exactly is required for modding the new model PSPs? The most attractive thing about this model is its video out capabilities so it'd be nice to have that stuff portable.

Well if I knew what that was then I probably wouldn't be asking the question.

I did do a bit of a search and found out a bit about it, but apparently there are two methods. This guy claims he can do it with one PSP, meaning there's a way to do it with two which I haven't found yet. Also his method says you need two batteries and I can't see why. If it helps when Best Buy finally gets some in stock I'll have two PSPs, a fat 1.5 and a new slimline.

BTW does all content on screen for the slimline become outputted when the cables are hooked up to it or just PSP games and movies?

I keep hearing everyone talk about a method that requires an old PSP, but I already have one. That's what I'd like to know more about. I don't know if you all knew this, but games don't play full screen via TV output On the PSP slim. My LCD monitor has a zoom feature, so I'll be able to force full screen viewing, but I wonder how crappy that'll be. I'm still getting a new one, but this is a slight kick in the ass. Movies play normally however.
