I suppose America itself was technically invented in England too though so I see the relevance.

Other things invented in England and therefore, epitomising the very essence of Americanism include: Selective breeding, the planet Uranus, sunspots, Buckminsterfullerene, solar power, meterology, pencils, the internet, stereo, text messaging, computers, mp3 players, polyester, the police, The Police, iris recognition, steam power, disk brakes, sewers, custard, sandwiches, jellied eels, Marmite, lawn mowers, postage stamps, colour blindness, viagra, bouncing bombs, stun grenades, cinematography, the equals sign, atomic theory, calculus, time and gravity.

This is of course just a small list of all the incredible gifts British engineers and scientists have given to the world so that America can use them as iconic imagery on the day they celebrate distancing themselves from the people who invented them.

I'm pretty sure that some of those inventions are post-war. Anyway, we share our stuff with you, as a constant reminder of what an awesome country you're missing out on swearing fealty to.
