Well there's no EU directive to say member states aren't allowed to vote on it. It's just that our wise and benevolent government who have taken it upon themselves in recent years to do what they think's best for us, rather than what the majority of the country actually want, have decided that as the word "Constitution" was dropped from the treaty's title, they don't have to give us a referendum on whether to sign up or not.
Essentially, the New Labour lot all realise their time is about up and are eyeing cushy Euro-parliament jobs so are kowtowing to Brussels more than ever before. We're seriously long overdue a revolution in this country. Jam it back in, in the dark.   |
