I recently saw a Korean film called Oldboy which was pretty disturbing. I've got a load of horror films and gore films so I find these days, a film needs a psychological edge to be really disturbing, buckets of blood just don't do it for me any more.
Oldboy is essentially about a guy who get's imprisoned for 15 years without knowing why and is then released just as suddenly. He has a few days to find out why he was imprisoned and released and i's basically pretty fucked up. Any further discussion of the plot would completely ruin it for everyone though... I think me and my girlfriend are getting a bit de-sensitised to gore these days. When we watched Saw III at the cinema we seemed to be the only people in the cinema laughing most of the way through. Jam it back in, in the dark.  |
