I always buy games second hand if I can. So long as the box isn't broken and the disc's not too scratched, you might as well have it half the price. I wouldn' tbuy a console second hand if a new one was available though, if only because I've seen how some people treat their consoles. I'm not precious about mine but I'm still using my original PS2 and my first PS1 lasted a good five years of heavy abuse before the motor gave up.
