If you can get them to run on a modern PC, Gunship 2000 and Strike Commander are two of the greatest flight-sims/combat games ever crafted by human kind. Gunship 2000 is a helicopter sim that has you starting off solo but graduating up to leading a flight of upto five choppers. The level of tactical depth is great, allowing you to send one of your squad mates in a scout helicopter to target the enemy from the brow of a hill whilst you and the others sit back in complete safety behind the hill firing hellfire missiles round the side of it using their lock-on. It looks rather dated now but it's helluva fun.

Strike Commander is a flight sim with a story. You're the commander of a group of mercenaries and as well as blowing shit up, you have to balance the books so do you save money and try to take out the base with unguided bombs or blow the budget on Mavericks and wipe it off the face of the planet from 20 miles away? The dog fighting is wicked cool too and with all the detail effects turned up full, it looks comparable to a PS1 game.

Of course if you own a PS1 you should play Colony Wars. It's fucking difficult but a great space shooter. Oh yeah, and G-Police.

Edit: Oh yeah, everyone who owns a PC should play Master of Orion. It's like Civilisation in space only not nearly as gay.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I never played MoO3 but I fucking loved the first two. The addition of multiplayer in the second made it dangerously easy to waste entire weeks at university...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Homeworld 2 (superb)
If a little on the insanely hard side. I pretty much suck at RTS games at the best of times but throw in a 3d element and I'm beyond lost. I'd love to be good at this game because it really is great but I'm fucked if I know what's going on half the time.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
