This evening I watched Hobo with a shotgun. It's a low budget, Canadian film that bizarrely stars Rutger Hauer as a tramp who arrives in a crime-ridden town and goes on a vigilante shotgun rampage. It's very silly but very enjoyable and Rutger Hauer is a very convincing tramp. The highlight though was the end credits music, which for God only knows what reason is the ending theme from The Raccoons. Worth a watch I'd say if you promise not to take it seriously.

Today we watched Dead Man Running, a fairly typical brit gangster film starring Danny Dyer and Curtis "Fiddy" Jackson. It's pretty good and a lot more light hearted than similar efforts. Also watched Annuvahood the other day which is a very funny Brit film about kids from inner city London. Like a funny Kidulthood really and I challenge any American here to watch and understand more than 20% of it without subtitles. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() ![]() |
Watched Season of the Witch, Ironclad, Arn the Templar and I Saw the Devil recently.
Season of the Witch is a very silly Hollywood effort about Knights escorting a witch to get tried. It's hilariously anachronistic, generally very silly and for some reason, Nic Cage and Hellboy insist on keeping their American accents even though everyone else in the film is British, although a few of the Brits sound like they're trying to do an American accent oddly enough. Anyway, it's pretty shit, I wouldn't bother. Ironclad is about Knights Templar too! Slightly more historically accurate than SotW but not much but it is a much better film, this time about a handful of knights defending a remarkably small Rochester castle against a horde of Danish mercenaries. It tries to be a lot more serious that the other but still manages to be quite silly. Worth a look though I'd say. The third Knight tamplar film I've watched recently (And the first of the three I watched) was Arn the Templar which is Danish or Swedish or some shit and is a wicked film. The plot is complete nonsense as these things often are and it ends up being kinda like Kingdom of Heaven. Much better film than that though and definitely worth watching. I Saw the Devil is a Korean horror film. If you've seen any Korean horror films, or infact any Korean films at all you'll know what this entails. Suffice to say there's not a happy ending. Good movie though. Most amazing jew boots ![]() ![]() |
This week watched Shank, Age of Heroes and Sucker Punch.
Shank is about a near-future London and gangs of kids and they're all rude boys (You get me, blood?) and it was aright but nothing like as good as Kidulthood. Age of Heroes has got Sean Bean and Danny Dyer in so is automatically awesome. It's about a WW2 commando unit going in to Norway to steal some plans and it was ok I guess but ended a bit abruptly and isn't nearly as good as whatever that old film about British commandos going into Norway to blow up a heavy water factory was. Sucker Punch is nothing like I thought it was going to be and was in fact much better than I thought it was going to be and is well worth a watch. Fucking good soundtrack too! How ya doing, buddy? ![]() ![]() |
Watched Drive Angry the other day. It's Nic Cage in a silly film, you don't need to know more than that. Worth a rental if you fancy something mindless of an afternoon. Loving the Chevy product placement too.

Me again!
This time I've watched Thor and Priest. Thor was pretty good actually, despite the complete hatchet job performed on Norse mythology and the fact the producers have played waaaaaaay too much Too Human, plus one or two pretty gaping plot holes but it's decent, mindless entertainment. Priest was trying a bit too hard to be The Matrix and Underworld but it was ok I guess and the Steampunk Western setting is pretty rad. FELIPE NO ![]() ![]() |
dsYou shouldn't have read the plot before you saw Martyrs. It is a hell of a film though.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() ![]() |
![]() Glad you liked it though, it's nice to see ostensibly gory films that are actually slightly thought provoking too. You should watch I Saw The Devil if you liked Martyrs. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() ![]() |
Watched Green Lantern last night which I can safely say is the worst superhero film released for years (With only Captain America still to watch of the recent slew to prove me wrong). It starts slowly, the plot jumps around a lot, it's not really clear who's who and why they do what they do and the whole story is pretty retarded. It's odd that DC can have created one supremely awesome superhero (Batman) and so many shitty ones and I guess this film is crap due to the inability to polish turds. Swerve at all costs.

I've watched a crap load of movies since last posting in here but I'm buggered if I can remember most of them. The ones I do recall though were:
Transformers 3 - Massive pile of fail. Disjointed plot, forgettable characters, one film too far, not enough Team America. Attack the Block - Pretty funny horror-ish Brit film but you can tell they slowed down all the rudeboy South London speak to make it more understandable for foreigners/northerners so it's not as good as proper rudeboy South London films. The Last Bladesman - Decent martial arts effort although tries a bit too hard to be Hero. Garfield, a tale of two kitties - Amazingly managed to be worse than I thought it'd be. Kill the Irishman - Mob film, much like every other mob film. Better than Godfather 3, not as good as Donnie Brasco. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() ![]() |
Against my better judgment I watched a film recommended by Sprout the other day but surprisingly, Chuck and Dale fight Evil is really good. Very funny and a refreshing change to the genre.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() ![]() |
Watched odd Chinese film True Legend last night. It's a modern kung-fu film with decent choreography and a plot that makes little sense and is full of plot holes. Worth a look.
Also watched Blazing Saddles on tv last night which remains one of the funniest films of all time. I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() ![]() |
Currently watching 2001 Maniacs. It's as silly as the first time I watched it but as comedy horror goes, you could do much worse.

Watched a very weird film called Rubber the other day about a car tyre that kills people. Very post-modern and very silly, I thought it was awesome.
Also watched the remake of True Grit today which was ok I guess. Most amazing jew boots ![]() ![]() |
Just watched Fallen, a 1998 Denzel Washington film purporting to be an OMEN-esque thriller but actually not being in the least unnerving. Bit dull really.
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() ![]() |
Watched a fucking terrible film today called something like In the Name of the King which is Uwe Boll's take on Dungeon Siege. Easily the worst film Jason Stateham's ever been in and probably the worst film Burt Reynolds has been in too...
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() ![]() |
Watched the recent Three Musketeers film last night and it's pretty terrible. Suffers from being brutally American (Everyone in it has an English accent except Dogtanian who is American, oh and the Cardinal who is French randomly) and they shouldn't have cast someone who looks so much like Orlando Bloom in a film starring Orlando Bloom. Avoid this and go re-watch the one with Kiefer Sutherland in (Or in fact the Olly Reed one).

Watched IP Man and IP Man 2 the other night, the story of the geezer who taught Bruse Lee. Awesome films with some comedy kung fu skills. Also watched Final Destination 5 which was much the same as the others and had annoying waving things into the screen all the time as it was probably made for 3d.

Watched Red State the other day. I liked it, although it's a bit odd. I probably found it funnier than Kevin Smith intended.
Also getting into The Walking Dead although it's a bit predictable. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? ![]() ![]() |
I watched The Dark Knight Rises last night. I enjoyed it, it was a decent end to the re-vamped series (Assuming they don't ruin it with another sequel). There were enough nods to the Knightfall series for those of us who've read it to have a quiet chuckle now and then and although there were massive plotholes throughout, they weren't so bad as in a lot of superhero movies.
Also watched all of series 1 of Game of Thrones which is pretty great. Again with the plot holes and it's a little predictable and formulaic in parts but with an all-Brit cast, the accents are at least not so painful you want to cut your ears off, a common issue with fantasy setting shows. Seen a bunch of other movies too but I can't remember what they were off the top of my head. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() ![]() |
If you say so, Dr Pendantic.
Just watched God bless America. Pretty funny movie, if a little preachy. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() ![]() |

A popular misconception. Actually, the French are British, only we keep that quiet.
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() ![]() |
Just got back from watching Looper. It's a decent enough flick which suffers from fewer of the plot holes that so often plague time travel movies, although there are a few glaring gaps in there. A few neat ideas though and the setting is an interesting interpretation of life in 2044. I particularly liked the use of a Mazda MX5 as his prized classic car.
Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() ![]() |
Today I mainly went to see Skyfall! Monstrous plot holes and continuity errors aside, it was a decent enough film, although the end was a bit too foreshadowing-heavy for my liking. I've definitely watched too many of those shows about movie mistakes to not notice the errors througout this though and I do find when a film is this bad is does distract a little. Disappearing massive ammo clips, shots of Beijing cut in when Bond visits Shanghai (To be fair you'd probably only notice if like me you'd been to both and in fact stayed overlooking the huge traffic junction in Beijing they used), things happening at one underground station then all the protagonists running away from different ones, each at least a mile apart, no blood anywhere despite the bodycounts (12A rating blamed for this), blue filters used excessively to replace dusk and then the sun setting in 30 seconds, smashed windscreens being different amounts smashed, people driving forwards away from head-on collisions and so on. Also I know you're supposed to suspend disbelief when you watch a fim like this but would the entire IT department of MI6 go home at night?
Anyway, it's a good action film, a decent Bond film and certainly better than QofS and I just wish they'd stop trying to shoe-horn in 24 style plots and get back to megolomaniacal weirdoes trying to steal nukes and shit like that. There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() ![]() |
