This week was really cool. I don't typically listen to percussive music like this, so it was a new experience, but it was a fun one.
Helped to broaden my horizons on percussive game music as well. So yeah, I enjoyed it~Chocolate Outline.. I love this track. Drakken sent me a handful of Age of Mythology tracks since I was having some difficulty in finding a percussion track to nominate, and this one stood out the most. I love the soothing atmosphere it creates with the subtle melody and percussion. I'd definitely second his suggestion about checking out more of the game's music, too.. If you enjoyed Chocolate Outline, that is. spray -boss- is cool; almost a completely percussive track. I prefer my music with more of a melody, so this was a little hard to get into at first, but I grew to enjoy the active beats that characterize this track. Cool stuff. Complex Thoughts struck me as similar to Chocolate Outline - a fairly subtle melody (though it develops more than Chocolate Outline) with enjoyable percussive parts. It creates a similar soft and soothing atmosphere for me, but also adds some liveliness to the melody. Dance With a Crocodile was awesome. I loved the animal sounds as percussion, and the development of the melody was fairly enjoyable. It's a pretty fresh offering, but not all that impressive in terms of the actual percussion.Kiss Twice is a pretty cool track by Kikuta. It's not what I'm used to hearing from him, but still enjoyable in its own way. The beats, however, are pretty unique and interesting to listen to - this is typical of his style in other games, and it doesn't fail to be enjoyable here. The melody is very strong (and has a nice amount of variance) too, which is a plus. Probably one of the stronger tracks this week! Beachway is a decent, minimalisitic, and cutesy track. It's enjoyable for what it does, but nothing extremely impressive. Still, I enjoy it. This track makes me want to investigate Maple Story a little bit more - I've heard a little about it, but I've never bothered to see what it's all about. Ruthless is similar to spray -boss- in that it's mostly based on percussion, but I find this even harder to get into. With a length of over five minutes, it becomes a little difficult to keep my attention focused on the track the whole time, too. It does do some interesting things with the percussion, but overall I find it pretty hard to enjoy.Techno Rave is cool as well. I don't care that much for the techno elements in the track, but it's still fairly enjoyable. The percussion is also fairly good. It doesn't feel all that special to me, but it's still a decent track. 2 Points ~ Age of Mythology Original Soundtrack - Chocolate Outline 2 Points ~ Genso Suikoden III Original Soundtrack - Complex Thoughts 2 Points ~ Koudelka - Kiss Twice Here's my next nomination.. I originally posted this before percussion week, but I believe it was taken off the queue so that my percussion nom would be able to make it on the list (or something like that :x). Anyway, here it is: Artist(s): Minako Hamano & Norio Hanzawa Album: Wario World (Gamecube Game Rip) Track Title: Excitement Central - Greenhorn Forest Disc Number: only one Track Number: 5 Catalog Number: none Year: 2003 Source(s): http://www.mrmonkeyman.com/treasure/ost/warioworld.txt Jam it back in, in the dark. |
