Before you start throwing your RAM in the bin, try testing it for a few hours using this:
http://www.memtest.org/ The 86+ version is supposed to be more thorough than the 86 version, although you have to boot from a floppy to get it to work. If you can't stably run Windows then this is useful and rules out other causes for freezing such as Windows driver errors etc. Otherwise you probably have some poorly seated hardware or a faulty/underpowered PSU. Jam it back in, in the dark.
