After purchasing my HDTV I can't play shmups very well. It depends on the shooter actually, some of them look great, others not so much. Since the quality is upscaled it's difficult to see the hitbox, but it does look nicer (albeit, blurry). Actually there is a device that does this. It's called Xploder HDTV Selector, and it can run PS2 games after selecting 480p/720p/1080i, 60/50Hz, PAL or NTSC. Of course it isn't proper and it still looks bad. PC gaming is okay. Just okay because I have a pretty bad graphics card (Geforce 5100FX) and only 256MB RAM, so I can't run games like Oblivion. I wouldn't rush out and buy more RAM and a new graphics card to purchase and play Oblivion with - since I own a 360. Sure the 360 version doesn't have those cool looking japanese Oblivion mods or mods in general, or fixes or anything like that, and slowdown. But it costs far less then upgrading does. The game still looks great and you're playing it on your own TV. If you're playing it on a monitor, it's a different experience. Regardless of this the faces in Oblivion don't change facial expressions ![]() Despite the PC bashing in this thread, mouse and keyboard support for the PS3 and 360 need to be made apparent by Microsoft and Sony. This is a requirement. I CANNOT enjoy games like Broken Sword, Discworld (any point-and-click games) or FPS games with a controller. With a Wii remote? Sure why not. Makes sense. Oh "but you get used to the second analog stick" I hear someone say. Suck my ass, the right analog stick is lame and I hate it and I've been playing with a keyboard and mouse for years so why should I have to re-learn my aiming all over again? Microsoft make keyboards and mice, why can't they make a keyboard and mouse for the 360 controller (and have it plugged into the bottom of the controller)? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
Who says it's optional?
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
I can barely browse the internet outside of gff as it is without being told to fetch. Link?
My tv automatically upscales the quality of anything using component to 480p but doesn't tell you, I doubt there's a Low Quality / High Quality option in PS3's option for PS1 and PS2 games. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Oh hey, that's really neat. But it's not truly high definition for old generations of gaming, it would just make it playable while in that HD mode. I can't imagine what some of the older PS1 games would look like upscaled to such high HD modes. Would 2D games be upscaled to a maximum of 480p and 3D games upscaled to..? I don't know how that would work.
