Not sure if this is mentioned, but it's the same world as in Vagrant Story.

I'm forced to buy this now. Not that I really liked Vagrant much, but more for the fact that I'm a graphics whore.

Here's the FFXII opening movie as a gift.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

33 mb? Hmm, seems kind of small for a soundtrack.

Oh well, currently downloading. I have hype over this game and I don't know why.

Simo needs to start creating sigs holy shit.

Double Post:
Eh, this selection isn't that impressive. Mediocre at best.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I don't know what you see in it. It's a song from a game, but I don't think it stands out.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You see all of that out of how much playtime? See, you can read as much as you like into what the song may represent, but you won't know until it's here.

I picked up a copy earlier today, and, well... I hated it. I decided not to return it, but rather to break it and complain about how much it sucks.

The word you're looking for is "broken."

I was speaking idiomatically.

It's also photoshopped, because I see pixels.

Around the center of the middle ring. I also don't know if it's the same image as it's on the original disc. All I know is..

True, but by the time it's released out of japan(November) you could of completed it not knowing japanese.

I don't have the patience for foreign material myself, as much as I'd love to involve myself with the Sakura Taisen series, if it isn't in english I'll pretty much give it up.

You still have quite a long wait. Gamefaqs will probably have a translation/guide up within a month.

How ya doing, buddy?

I don't usually bother with japanese games that aren't pretty straight foward. You have the easy, understandable games which are in japanese but that's irrelevant.

Shooting games, fighting games, arcade games. Hell, even arcade games can be confusing - the japanese copy of Taiko no Tatsujin has traditional horizontal japanese bars and nothing's translated. I can only remember what I've discovered through trial and error.

The only RPG in japanese I own is Chrono Trigger, and even I haven't completed it. It just isn't the same. Apparently XII isn't as startling enough to complete through even though the language barrier is there.

You guessed wrong - the only japanese person I've seen on gamingforce was japanese, and learning english.

Other then that I haven't seen anybody understand a lick of japanese here. It makes me wonder why people have japanese signatures.

Eh, I wouldn't call it worthwhile, since Square-Enix are just milking it now, along with everyone else. Final Fantasy XII CONTROLLER? What the hell.

What else does the console have, apart from the engraved logo?

I keep telling people, you don't need to mod your damn PS2 for it to play japanese games.

Not that you're going to want to take a japanese RPG seriously, of course.

Modding doesn't fuck up your system, it actually helps it. Provided you don't have a slim which can overheat due to lack of fan, they're fine.

I don't have a modchip but I can still play imported games. I just don't have the money for a modchip otherwise I probably would invest in one, but it really doesn't matter that much. Modding only fucks up your system if there's something wrong with the modchip itself, or if you're still under warranty.

I suggest you take a look here at their videos. If you have a slimline(lol, I wrote slimeline, it's so true) then I can't help.

Basically, you need to swap discs every time you want to load a japanese game, but it doesn't void your warranty.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It doesn't hurt your PS2. All you do is insert the appropriate disc, since there's one for DVD formatted PS2 games and one for CD-R PS2 games which typically have a blue side.

It is quite a pain to swap, but it's far cheaper then buying a modchip and paying somebody to install it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, it doesn't damage it exactly, but I'm sure over time it would.

You just have to be careful. A safer way is to get a modchip, but that's only safe if you have somebody install it for you. Tampering around with it yourself isn't the best idea.

Of course it'll work with swap magic.

I wouldn't download it myself - 4 GB on DSL is slow, and it's still a japanese RPG. But I'll still want to pick this up when it's released in November.

Let's keep the spoilers in this thread to a minimum, eh? I don't get hyped over a game very often.

Really? I haven't come across any so far.

Hmm, I would of thought that the big guys at Square-Enix would have put some easy protection against stuff like that, but apparently not.

I have a friend who imported a white, fat PS2. It cost him roughly $45 NZ in postage, or roughly $30 US.

I'm not too keen on the swap magic system for slimlines, and I'm not too keen on slimlines whatsoever, but importing a console just to play games to avoid a modchip is pretty ridiculous.

I mean, it's no fun to play RPGs and text based games in japanese. And come on, not all games in english are bad.

Negative.

Their site says slimlines require you to use the Swap Magic 3 + Magic Switch or Swap Magic 3 + Flip Top Cover combo. Neither of this is hard modding, but replacing your cover with the "Flip Top Cover" will void your warranty and is very useless as you might as well mod it for all the good it is.

Man, I want a slimline now. Look at this and you'll see what I mean. You don't need a flip top cover as the slimlines have that. All you do is put those things into place, swap, and you're done. The demo didn't show him closing the lid so I'm not too sure whether it's possible to shut the lid after you've loaded the import, but if so, that's pretty awesome.

People that are going to get the PS3 are going to get it, same thing goes for those who want FFXII. The latter costs far less and the first group (even a fraction of it) easily fits into the second. Casual gamers have never shown much interest in RPGs, so why would this game suffer simply because the PS3 is launching in the same month? There will be enough avid gamers buying the game to secure decent sales.
And how much money does the average gamer make? They're either flipping burgers or working in a supermarket. It's not like people are made of money, and you're basically forced to prepare for the launch.

It's all very well to take into consideration that people will buy XII with the launch of the PS3, but there's still going to be the majority who stick with the PS2 and just buy XII for itself. It makes no sense to play a last generation title on a next generation console; when you've payed for game/s on the PS3.

I don't suppose the PS3 is going to enhance XII in any way, eh? It is released the same time, so I can't say no.
