Vib Ribbon if they got it (haven't checked)
How the fuck do you play Vib Ribbon on a PSP? You need to remove the disc and switch it with a CD one. Unless you're going to play the default tracks, which kinda defeats the purpose of the game (although the tracks are still awesome.)

Actually this reminds me. Does the PS1 version of Valkyrie Profile play better than the VP: Lenneth they made for PSP? Someone needs to check that out. Anyway I'd recommend Silhouette Mirage, The Adventures of Lomax the Lemming, Tactics Ogre, and I very very highly recommend Kurushi.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The devhook installer I used actually had a paypal hijacking tool in it (according to pestpatrol, at least) so it's safe to say you shouldn't bother with that shit and just read up on qj's PSP forums, or something.

How is emulation and homebrew for the PSP Slim? So far I've heard of the M33 (or whatever) firmware for the Slim, but I don't know what it does. Apparently the only possible way of doing this is to already own a fat PSP, with 1.50 firmware. Also a fat battery.

I really don't feel like purchasing a fat battery just for this, much less a fat PSP for Pandora's Battery. So, is the Slim capable of running emulators and PSP ISOs (via some kind of launcher I assume) yet with a method that doesn't require an original PSP?

I was speaking idiomatically.

Lix:

Snes9x was just released for Slim:

Snes9xTYL 0.4.2 ME for PSP Slim - PlayStation Portable News - PSP Updates

Still choppy of course, due to no utilization of the 1.50 kernel on the Slim OF COURSE, but hey, it's there.
Awesome. I'm getting someone to change my PSP's firmware (Pandora battery method) to.. M33 3.71, I think? Is that right? Something like that. Now all I need is for my 4gb memory stick to arrive (AND FOR RONDO OF BLOOD TO BE RELEASED FFFFFF) and I'm set.

Ohshitohshit portable Brave Fencer Musashi and Tomba in the SAME DEVICE.

The only way (I know of) to change a slim's firmware is with the pandora's battery method.

How ya doing, buddy?

Is there a (properly) working SNES emulator for the PSP Slim? I tried snes9xTYL-0.4.2me_fw3x, but it doesn't even load Earthbound.

Super Star and Dreamland 3 are in the 5 fps range. Frame skip doesn't seem to be helping either. I'm going to toy around with it a bit more though.

Am I the only person here using M33 2.71-2 right now? There's no bios menu (from what I've researched), thus pressing R while resetting the PSP doesn't do anything. I'd really like to change the buttons around. Originally they were O = OK, X = Cancel, but after the firmware changed so did the buttons, and now O = Cancel and X = OK.

Yes I meant 3.71-2. I didn't have the firmware put on by myself and there's no recovery menu in 3.71-2 M33; pressing R while turning the PSP off, then on, does nothing.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh, my bad. Button crisis avoided. >_>

Also HOLY SHIT. I didn't know this thing could be switched from one firmware (3.71-2 M33) to 1.5. Though, what is the difference between the "NO UMD" drivers? These ones:

M33 driver -NO UMD-
Sony N9660 -NO UMD-
OE isofs legacy -NO UMD-
Normal -NO UMD-

It was originally on M33 driver, so in any case, I'll leave it alone.

I hate to break it to you Elixir, but Superstar, EarthBound, and SMRPG are the top three games that usually don't work for snes9x for PSP OR PS2 (EarthBound usually running in the OK range, but not perfect)
Yeah, I noticed. Although I don't mind some slowdown in my Earthbound. At least now using the 1.5 kernel makes SNES games run faster. As in, Megaman 7 and Dracula X (SNES version) are now playable.

I'll gather all Mode 7 games (F-Zero) and ones with special chips, like Yoshi's Story, are still slow due to their emulation not being yet perfected.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Is there any way of taking screenshots in a Slim yet? Apparently there's a capture.prx which works, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

All it takes is 5 seconds on google and common sense to find the link: PSP Screenshot plug-in for 3.71 M33 ยป PSP Slim Hacks

Anywho, I started playing my PSX games on my m33 firmware. And before I play, it asks me if I want to convert as I previously played them in the OE firmware. Should I or should I not convert?
Yes, thank you for linking me to a website where the fucking download link doesn't do anything but redirect to some gpSP application and the source is dead.

It wasn't working, but it does now. Still, three messed up links were given. (Well, definitely two).

Thanks though. I guess I'll try this shit out later tonight. I have to take some pictures of some very abnormal activity I've detected while playing Disgaea.

I'm sorry. Maybe if I were being paid, I would've sendspaced the file first thing.

Seriously, Elixir.
This thing you gave me is completely and utterly useless. Seriously, after all the links. this is bullshit. I can take pictures of the dashboard, oh wow, but nothing in-game works, period, meaning that it isn't doing 90% of the purpose it exists for.

In other news I might upgrade to M33 3.71-3. I've never bothered upgrading firmware before though, so I don't know if it's even worth it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

If you're talking about custom eboot pictures and icons and stuff..
Custom Pics for PS1 games : INDEX - MaxConsole Forums
You're going to need to make an account but it's a good place.
Thanks! <3 A lot of these are really well made. I'm surprised some of even the most obscure games have been covered (Slap Happy Rhythm Busters for example).

Nono, I think you misunderstand, I don't own a PS3 or have any PS1 games which are multiple discs, so the update isn't important for me at the moment. I'll probably update it anyway after I'm done mixing and matching custom PS1 icons/backgrounds for my games.

So...I am thinking of getting a PSP.

Question is, I am still unclear about the differences between the old and new PSPs.

Also, as I was reading a few posts, it seems that some software/homebrew stuff/etc only works on one type, and not the other?
I could link you to a whole bunch of PSP vs. PSP Slim reviews and videos but there's only one thing I can say. There's no reason to purchase an outdated gaming system which plays the exact same games as the newer model. It's like purchasing a Gamecube when you can simply buy a Wii and play Gamecube games on it, plus all the new ones.

Although that slightly differs for the PSP, the Slim is really nice and I think it's even lighter than the DS Lite in terms of heft. The only way of modding it right now is with the Pandora's Battery method, I think, but it's totally worth it.

Download a PSXPSP game, and stick the EBOOT.whatever into your /PSP/GAME folder. It should just detect it from the memory card.

There's a bunch of things you can do before this, like adding PS1 walls/icons/sounds, but if you don't even know how to run PS1 games, welp.
