Yeah I don't understand this myself. If this is for Wii games, FUCKING AWESOME. If it's for Gamecube games, well, that's still awesome because now I'm in the hunt for a new Freeloader which is compatible with the PAL Wii. I've looked around but places aren't saying if they work with PAL Wiis or not.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
I think it was trying to read a GC disc, anyway. It read it, but in the process of doing so moving the Wii remote over different buttons it flickered all over the place. It isn't doing it anymore though, which is a good thing. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Got a reply from Datel.
Ok, 2 rather plain questions. Does uh, the Wavebird work on the Wii? It only makes sense to get one since everything else is wireless. And can you transfer GC game saves to an SD card and run? It'd be better than having to use the memory card slots all the time. I was speaking idiomatically. |
Probably one for each region (3 regions.)
I'm confused though - what the fuck. Play-asia's website has this for sale, which is an "updated" version of the Freeloader, and allows you to use foreign games on an american Wii. But apparently the 1.06 version works too, so what's the update for? Oh yeah, I asked if the one sold on play-asia worked on PAL consoles, but he didn't answer it. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
No, but I have complained to them about receiving a game recently with a broken case, days ago, and they still haven't replied.
But it's bordering christmas, and I figure heck, they're probably swamped with orders and requests and stuff, so I'll give them at least a week before contacting them again. FELIPE NO |
No, play-asia have an excellent reputation. I've bought a bunch of stuff off them and do so constantly without any problems. Oddly enough, their stuff only takes 5 days to reach me, unlike america which takes 5-10.
I'll just wait it out and see what happens. I'm not in a hurry to play my american GC games, anyway. Besides, I really need to stop spending money. Since there's gonna be a Freeloader most likely released in january or late december that'll solve this issue, I'll wait until then and gather some money together again. Speaking of spending, I totally forgot about the component cables. They didn't have any in stock at the store I purchased mine at, but I haven't seen any visual detriment from my PS2 component cables. Then again, all I'm playing at the moment is Wii Sports. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
I don't understand the calibration thing.
It tells you to set the sensitivity so the dots are blinking, but they're all blinking. So uh, what? Jam it back in, in the dark. |
How ya doing, buddy? |
How is it cheaper to get one from america? The shipping is like, $50 US just in itself.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Yeah I'm realy looking forward to playing my american GC games as well as future Wii games which aren't released over here. My guess is that Trauma Center won't come over here (Atlus is known for doing this), and of course there's the japanese stuff that might be interesting to see as well.
My arms are seriously tired at the moment, though. I can't play Wii Sports anymore. I'll just entertain myself with less tiring games until they recooperate from the mass amounts of unexpected use they've had recently. I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I'm sure there's going to be enough games released until then to keep the rest of us amused.
It's true, though, big hit titles aren't necessarily the biggest console sellers anymore. I was speaking idiomatically. |
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Wow, play-asia's selling 3rd party Wii component cables here for $10. I'll probably order one because I have a 3rd party PS2 component cable which works great, and I'm sure as hell not paying the high price just for an official name slapped onto the product.

I can tolerate a few games in 50Hz, but things like Gunstar Heroes and/or any action paced games shouldn't be allowed to be run in that mode. Especially Gunstar Heroes. Most amazing jew boots |
It's hardly a severe incongruency. They didn't want a game which came with the GC, to be ran at 50Hz. That makes sense when they're trying to sell a console, but Wii Sports runs at 60Hz in PAL, as does the channels. I guess VC really is just a huge rom database.
That Wii Freeloader needs to hurry itself up. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
If you find a HDTV that doesn't have component cable outputs, don't buy it.
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I wish Datel would hurry up with that Wii Freeloader.
I don't want to keep digging out my GC to play it's games on composite for an hour or so. I was speaking idiomatically. |
You're gonna need a stepdown transformer.

Just got my Wii component cables for a grand total of $15. Compared to the official ones this was a great deal. People tried to tell me they're different from the official ones but they're lying. Some asian guy in EB today was trying to convince me that the official ones were better. I told him they aren't and you're only paying for the name "Nintendo" written on it.
Oddly enough his fellow worker tried to convince him what I was trying too. "Oh, but component cables don't make much of a difference unless you have a HDTV right?" and people wonder why I dislike EB. And speaking of EB, I picked up my PAL Twilight Princess for Gamecube today. I don't care for the Wii's controls, and since it's basically the same damn game as the Wii version (and plus the GC version is already rare for some reason) so I'll start playing that later today or tomorrow. Dunno. God Hand's so awesome I don't know when I'll be stopping for this. How ya doing, buddy? |
I think that 2.1E added more parental controls. It said so after updating but that's all I saw.
Additional Spam: There's now a working Freeloader for the PAL Wii, according to play-asia's report in which they've tested multiple versions and stated the following:
1.) Test results marked with (*) have currently not been performed by us due to unavailability of DOL101 model Gamecube™ machines. However they are based on various reports made by customers in the past and based on our experience. We will redo tests on DOL101 Gamecube™ models once available to us. 2.) Japanese and Multi Version Freeloader appear to be identical, apart from their packing. Multi Version Freeloader will be phased out and are soon to become unavailable as soon as we have run out of stock. 3.) The PAL Version Freeloader features a new interface. We believe it will be likely that Datel is going to revise their Japanese and US Version Freeloader with the new interface in the near future but do not have further information available at present. 4.) DOL101 Gamecube™ models are the new models, which no longer include the built-in Digital Out Port (for connecting a Gamecube™ Component or D-Cable). You can also find the model number on the label at the bottom of your GameCube. DOL101 model machines were not available to Play-Asia at the time the tests have been conducted. We will update our test results as soon as those models become available to us.[/quote] At $20 (US) this is a steal. I can't wait to see what F-Zero GX and Ikaruga look like on component. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

It's not fake, but it doesn't kill the region issue. Basically it lets you play burned copies from your own region on your Wii.
There's more information about it here. There's nowhere I can't reach.

Is there a Wii VGA cable coming out soon? I heard they're available in japan but I can't find anywhere which sells them.
