I love a lot of sub-genres of electronic music. While I don't HATE dubstep, it's the only one I don't listen to outside of a party/club setting. It's danceable, certainly more so than any of the IDM I prefer over it, but generally speaking I find it average at best. I did have quite a laugh seeing Boregore last year but that was mainly down to ridiculous metal mash-ups he threw in there.
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
When I've been places they play it I've always been quite surprised by how lively the crowd are - it's just the same kind of stuff you'd see with drum & bass, usually with a few mosh pits and occasional wall of death chucked in there. There's definitely some part of it that seems to appeal to the metal crowd; most of the people I know who are into it are into metal in a big way too. My ex really hit it off with some guys at a night a few years back because of a mutual love for doom, which they thought shared a lot with dubstep.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
