Well, my old cat Shelly had kidney failure and literally shuddered out of life in my brother's arms while we watched. She was drowning in her own tissue basically.
One of our many many fish actually committed suicide; we didn't have a tank lid on at the time and (we assume) it jumped straight out of the tank. We found it a couple of days later, rotting and covered in fluff under the chest of drawers. Not too pretty. Jam it back in, in the dark.
