I will usually smile and nod if a stranger acknowledges me in the street, but I never initiate anything like that.
If I'm pissed off and someone is staring at me I will stare right back at them until they look away. Having people stare is worse than if they ignore you when you're saying hello. Call me finicky but I just think it is. Jam it back in, in the dark.
