I also hope there isn't a major shortage of the game. I didn't preorder it not thinking it was necessary. Even the Wii is still being constantly sold out due to the shortages of the system. Though, I'm hoping to get the game on Sunday or Monday. I do work at Target, though I'm unsure if we're getting it on Sunday. I'm still confused as to if Gamestop is the only place getting it on the 9th or just the only place holding tournaments.

I'll probably use Sunday/Monday as a day to check out the mall and Target.
I stopped by Gamestop to reserve it yesterday and they said I would be one of the last people to get it at their location as they were closing off reservations that night. I would assume every location is different so stop by your local place and check their availability.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm not really in the know about this aspect (and I'm not really itching to do any thread digging) so there is another friend code system setup for Brawl? Meh, no worries, all the people I'd like to play with are just a board post/IM away anyway.

I can understand people not wanting reserve games on principle, but this is too big of a game to leave to chance by walking in (at least in my mind). Almost feels like just walking in to try and get a Wii, you're damn lucky if you find it, but you probably won't.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Apologies that I didn't know every detail about the game >_> Forgiveness please!

I've been looking through a lot of screens and some opinions, the game definitely looks pretty, I'm sure I'll be amazed after years of being used to Gamecube Melee. And yes, I'm also looking forward to the 16:9 ratio option, a treat for all the people I'm sure who have been starting to upgrade all their TV sets for the new year (myself to be included soon, hopefully).

Now we just need an orchestral version of the game's soundtrack and we're good to go.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

We can probably all agree that if you haven't bought or stolen your copy by day 1, you're out of luck for awhile at least. Now it's basically a question if and when it will overtake Super Mario Galaxy as bestselling Wii game ever (discounting the Sports/Play pack-ins). If Japan sales are any indication, it won't be too long. (820,000 for Brawl vs. 250,000 for Galaxy in the first week).

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

So you pre-ordered twice?
My guess is that he's probably going to turn one of those preorders into store credit at whichever one he doesn't pick up at. Just wait a few days, your game gets released and you'll get credit at the store usually. Wouldn't be surprised if there are other careful people out there who have their name in at several different stores.

And if we're trading stories about long hours straight with a game, my friends and I did a marathon run of Super Mario Strikers Charged, because the only way you're going to beat that game in the last tourney is if you have 4 good people playing. Screw that CPU. I'm sure I'll be cramming in the hours with Smash also, since I'm actually heading out of the country in just a couple weeks =/ (of course)

I've heard like 90% positive praise for SSE, I can't imagine it to be a downgrade from Melee and I enjoyed the single player on Melee as it was. Looking forward to the fun times tomorrow!

I was speaking idiomatically.

Even though I'm heading out to vacation in a few days, I can be found (at least until Wed) at:

Name: Rob
Code: 2793-0272-5749

I'll be bringing my copy of Smash along though, so I may update this later. But add anyway, I'd like to try it out while I'm still at home. I've added all the names I've seen so far.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I tried my hand at a online game with anyone...no one showed up for quite a few minutes. I find that hard to believe right now >_> I do also believe that Wifi has quite a surge right now, hopefully will right itself eventually.

By the way, I didn't know that the homerun contest platform now has shields on the platform...if you watch the preloaded replay with your copy, you'll see that basically the homerun contest has turned into whoever can throw the bat the best. (Unless I'm mistaken about this in some respect...I still have plenty of things to learn about the game.)

Haha, I'm ROB. I apologize for the super laggy game, I think someone was having fun with the router while we were playing =/ I'm going to try again some more tonight once things calm down.

I also think I'm going to change my nick to Roll...I used ROB in Melee (when you could only have 4 chars, gasp!) but it's just going to get confusing with the ROB robots in the game.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

I guess in my mind I'm trying to do SSE at least once without assistance (like with guides and such) so even though stickers are a legit part of the game, I don't want to rely on them either. Of course, if the game gets too damn hard, I'm sure I'll wuss out and put on some of those stickers, no problem. But just want to see how far I can get without em.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I dunno how well it works out against a decent opponent, but I found Squirtle's Up+B move to be pretty beastly when timed right. I'm still trying to figure out how best to use Charizard, though. It's feeling like he's just no good on the ground, but I'm not very good at air combat. Well, not with a slow guy like Charizard, anyway.
Yeppers, Up+B with Squirtle is due for some serious abuse in the near future I believe. I feel like its area of attack is just too huge that most of the big characters are going to get sucked into it. I'm on the fence with the other two Pokemon, but Ivysaur seems like he could be useful. Charizard is a bit too slow for me (I'm a Pikachu player mainly) so it might take some adjustment, although he's definitely the power in the group.

I still have no damn idea how Olimar actually works. I have some Pikmin, then I lose some Pikmin...I'll give him a try in practice mode eventually.

Edit: Of course, after I post this, the next stage I play in SSE is the Olimar one (yes, I'm that far behind also). Guess I'll have to learn.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Play SSE on normal with a friend. It's difficulty is the right amount and you should get through the game well enough. Took us about 8 hours or so to beat SSE and unlock all characters. Now we're going back through the stages that we missed stuff on easy to get 100% completion. Some stages just confuse the hell out of me on what we're missing because we've searched every nook and cranny we can find. I'm guessing you have to be a certain character on those stages or something. It's really weird.
I'm not 100% sure myself but I do also feel like some of the stages have some areas where a certain character will need to be used, usually someone who can get really high up, like a Kirby or so. Might be just my lack of jumping skills but that I how I felt in a few areas as I've been going through SSE.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Silly questions, but do people's names change when you've both added each other? I'm leafing through my list not remembering who's who for some people now.

It definitely seems so, because I type all my nicks in caps (lazy) and I've got some lower case names.

Looks like we'll probably need a reverse lookup (Smash nick -> GFF name) on the wiki page soon enough. I know some of the Smash nicknames are listed, but I really don't know who is who when I play on a regular basis yet.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

Has anyone had the chance to see the hilarity that is the Mr. Resetti assist trophy? I would've enjoyed it more had I not been playing an All Star challenge at the time >_>

Oh, also, can someone throw me a bone in what they're actually looking for in terms of 100% completion for SSE? Is it just picking up all the possible trophies in a stage? Because for some of them, I'm damn sure I got em all, yet I don't get that nice little flag on my map.

How ya doing, buddy?

You cannot.

Due to it having online features SD Card transfer is disabled for the main data.

Which is kind of silly.
Yep, lack of ability to transfer your Smash data to a SD is confirmed. Sad times, since I was looking to just put all my hard work on SSE onto the SD and take it with me for my trip...but no way will I bringing my Wii overseas. Look for an updated friend code (my friend's Wii) from me soon enough for some online games.

Is it just me, but I'm not feeling that homerun contest is too big of an issue. I'm getting 1700 range regularly with most of the characters.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

The issue of Cruel Melee was mentioned pretty damn long ago.

Here's the appropriate Youtube video for reference, although that Pit idea isn't too bad either.

YouTube - Cruel Melee Marth

Anyway, I haven't been keeping up with the thread since I went on vacation...I've been on 2 week Brawl withdrawal and by the time I get back home (which is like 4 weeks from now), everyone will have progressed so far in their skills it will be hopeless for me.

What's all this about clans and tourneys? I'll try and take a cursory look through the missed posts, but sounds like fun times.

EDIT: Also, apologies if you haven't been confirmed by me...I haven't been home, as you see. But I'll get back to you when I get back.

Just dropping in to say I'm back from Japan and ready to lose to everyone's probably vastly improved skills at Smash now. Well actually, I won't be back home with my Wii until two weeks from now, but I'm back stateside regardless.

Looks like I have even more fun to catch up on. Were those tourney threads I saw in multiplayer? Le gasp.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?
