Why is this coming out the same day as Madden ;_;

Well, I guess Madden will be for when friends come over, and Persona will be for my sad alone time when I need single player games to pick me up...which is more often than I think >_>

This game definitely has had my interest peaked, which is suprising, since none of the other Megaten ever did. I'm pretty much a sucker for the whole social aspect they hyped so much, and the reviews I've been seeing have only bolstered my decision to grab this game.

How ya doing, buddy?

Seems like Persona 3 has been delayed even more!

Gamestop shows that it will actually begin shipping on August 18. I probably wouldn't believe it just based on their word, but Amazon is saying they'll begin shipping on the 19th.

I haven't heard any official word from Atlus (yet), but looks like we'll have to hold our horses just a little bit more.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Bah! The steady stream of misinformation is killing me. Let's all buy import copies!

Whatever. I'm going to hold off a couple days in any case. Just got Madden which will keep me occupied for awhile. I don't see this special edition selling out anytime soon, so there should be a copy available somewhere next week or so. I'll just have to live vicarously through the praise that (hopefully) will be heaped upon the game here.

Gasp Syndrome! Shocking >_>

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I laughed at this for a good while, mainly because I immediately imagined this one guy I know saying it. Ah well, there's probably someone out there making fun of us and our an hero game.
Oh most definitely my friend. Being a fan of both Madden and your standard RPG, I've had my share of enjoyable moments hanging out with diehard fans of each who look down on the other.

In any case, all I know, is that my copy of Madden arrived safely, while apparently if you want to buy a copy of Persona 3 online, you're out of luck, unless you want to give Gamestop a try (as they claim to have copies...although a search of store inventories show zero copies across the board, at least for the regions I searched for). Amazon still is delaying shipment till the 19th (Sunday?), Bestbuy till the 20th.

This is pretty much not *how* to do a release Atlus.

Of course, from Atlus' POV, all is well.

Good to hear that's it out. I've actually got some more outside confirmation that they've found physical copies as well. The prophecy has been fulfilled!

Now I'm just wondering why so many big name online retailers and holding out on shipping.

I was speaking idiomatically.

It's looking like the wait for that art book was worth it.

Before I (inevitably) go out and buy the game, how is the game length shaping up to be? It seem liked to me (and I could be completely wrong) that the whole game storyline takes place within one school year. Previous experience with games of that type have led me to believe that they're usually short adventures.

I doubt that this is the case with Persona, since you're probably spending all your time in dungeons anyway, but I just wanted to get a pulse from the playing crowd.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Finally caved in and bought it myself. The EB Games was calling me!

I haven't gotten into a game this much in a long time. I think the main appeal for me is the insane amount of paths you can take. It'll be awhile (a probably many New Game+s) to get through em all.

Fun times. I have a bit to catch up to with everyone else here but I'm looking forward to it.

And I know that it had been mentioned before, but I was wondering if I had to go out and buy a fancy 64 MB memory card >_>

Ahh, so there's that "main character dies = instant game over" that the SMT series is famous for...this is my first SMT game so that was pleasant surprise, especially since it came during a generic battle which I had the Player Advantage in =/

Better I learn that lesson now than during an intense boss battle without saving ^^; Apparently us Final Fantasy folks have been having it too good for too long!

In any case, I'm coming close to that 59th level boss everyone seems to have had a tough time with. I haven't had any hiccups with the bosses yet, mainly because I've been grinding quite a bit. I didn't know about the day before full moon stamina bonus though, I had actually avoided fighting on the day before a full moon so I wouldn't be tired going into that boss battle.

Oh the things you learn from boards!

How ya doing, buddy?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle SP usage? The SP recovery items don't seem to be prevalent and (at least so far) you can't buy em, so I'm commonly running into problems with members running out of SP and therefore unable to exploit most weaknesses, which means I'll have to retreat to the main floor (for a free recovery) and retrace my steps (annoying if I've gone far) or just escape from every enemy I meet until I get to a guardian floor.

It's not the biggest issue I guess (since escaping doesn't take away from stamina, it seems) but just an annoyance. And I'm sure there's some Persona out there that has SP siphoning skills, but that doesn't help my other members that much =/

Jam it back in, in the dark.

It might be one of those Apathy Syndrome guys. There's a few around town, too.
Yep, they pop in and out with the moon cycles.

No problems with the voices for me. I'm actually impressed at the quality. That might be a reach for some people, but I'm liking it.

Speaking of items, can your characters ever run out? Back when I still used Junpei he used alot of healing items, and I was worried about them going to waste.
It doesn't seem that way. I know for sure that they're definitely not taking for the inventory stock since the first time Junpei used an item, I was like "wtf, don't use my items without asking".

Turned out when I went to the Pharmacy, I didn't even have any at all. Apparently he's making his own supply.

In any case, throughout the many grinds that I've been doing, he's used healing items many times. His SP-free healing is one of the main reasons he's sticking around (for now).

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm intrigued, how much do you play the game Metal Sphere? I've always been curious about how the game length actually shapes up to be, and just wanted to see what it took to get to the to.

Just want to see if I should devote a couple more hours in the day (or just grind less) to get the game finished in a reasonable amount of time (day-wise that is...I don't want to have to split gaming time among a number of games).

Probably the only good thing about keeping Orpheus around is for his Cadenza ability he has with Apsaras. It raises evasion and restores 50% of your HP. Really helpful in those tight spots, but later on, the SP price will be steep.
Yeah, I think by the point you can get Media on a Persona, you're probably safe to get rid of Orpheus. I do remember that Cadenza was useful during one boss battle, but it required also having Apsaras in tow, which you're probably unlikely to do once you get better Persona. The ability Media will give you good enough party healing for a much better price anyway.

In any case, I only kept Orpheus around until I got Pyro Jack. He had the Agi and Maragi that Orpheus had, but with a better Magic rating. Orpheus has been long fused away now.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Hi-larious.

But you never know. That Atlus. They're always one step ahead!

Oh, and why haven't I beaten this game yet. It's been like a half a damn year already =/ I'm all the way at mid December too. Props to the storyline though, it's been quite a ride.

I had managed to avoid reading much about Fes, mainly because I figured there might be some subtle spoilers/hints to the original game, but I took a look over at it at Wikipedia just now. Wow! That's quite an add-on to the game. Looks like I'll have to reserve my copy as well, pending my beating of the original game first >_>
