You may like this one -> http://www.geocities.jp/mugen2004rai...en_lifebar.htm
It has special bar right under lifebar.

Lifebar editing is quite easy, basicly what you'll have to do is to change the resolution of the font, simply make it two times bigger. Programs like Photoshop (to resize the file) and Font Editor to adjust the changes to the font file will be useful.

You posted the SAME lifebar!

Is there any way to make a black square appear in the select screen just after the character selection and before de stage selection? I don´t have any space to put the stage selection (I complete de screen with character boxes :P) in the screen and it would be great just to make a small background for this... I don´t know if someone understand what I am talking about...
As far as I'm concern it is not possible, at least I don't recall seing or hearing abouth something like this. If I were you I would bypass it by slightly editing your stage font. Just make a black boarder that won't be transparent (lets say 2 pixels long) from the top and bottom. This way you'll get an imitation of such a box only with font. So if you put "A" or any other letter you'll get:
Quote:
- <- box imitation form the top
A (on the balck background)
- <- box imitation form the bottom
Don't know if this is clear enough, if you have any troubles understanding what I just wrote, let me know.

Quote:
I'm having weird issues with some SF2 characters from my collection: Every once in a while the A.I. decides to open up a menu in the middle of the fight and navigate through its options (all in Japanese).
I have no clue what this is and there seems to be no way to close the menu other than waiting for the A.I. to quit it and unpause the game.
Suddenly a giant light bulb flashed above my head, there must be some kind of combination that triggers this menu, study character command file and try to dispode of this entry and see what happens.

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

It just seems pointless to me when you don't share these characters you created, because that's how you really kill Mugen.
So take a look at the warehoused character list again and tell me what percentage of the characters went actually offline by the decision of the original authors. From what I've seen it contains plenty of characters that are still available through creators site so cut the crap. By spreading them in this form you actually kill mugen comunity instead of helping it!

Every stege.def file have something like this:
Quote:
[Music]
bgmusic = sound/vanessa.mp3
bgvolume = 60
Put the music in the sound folder and add the path to the file.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

For some reason I knew that ordinary mugen leecher (who done nothing to mugen community) will not understand the complexity of the situation. The damn reason why the majority of talented creators left the scene is because of the warehouses you love so much. It's not really they were fed up with mugen, they got pissed because lazy people like you wanted to download characters from one warehouse instead of browsing the sites of the creators. Share links like that and eventually no new characters will be made.

Neat, editing stuff like this is the best way to get familiar with the code. Anyhow, be aware that it'll gonna be difficult finding sources for nice face portraits. It's good that you are using 0.5 scale, I used 1.0 (lower resolution), now I'm too lazy to edit all the portraits converting them to high-res ;p

I'm affraid both sites are just useless for mugen comunity; reason, characters made with FFI-VI sprites will be awfuly small. About 1/3 - 1/2 of normal character. Not to mention RPG characters consists of 20-40 frames of animation while 2d fighters have 500-700 sprites (+ additional addional effects). Sprites from the site are good for RPG MAKER but not mugen.

Af for the Ehrgeiz, making something out of it will be extremely difficult. It's 3d game and it is based on polygons not sprites. Of course it is possible to make characters using this as a base (vide T3 Hwoarang) but cleaning every frame from the background takes bloody ages. Besides I wasn't really impressed with the T3 fighter. I someone would give it a chance I bellieve it would be a good condidate to FF shitty band.

So yeah, I'll gladly take these warehouse sites over the author's crappy homepages any day.
Good for you dork, have fun with outdated buggy characters!
Quote:
Can someone please explain me how to make borders for the text? :S
Just extract the pxc file from mugen font (fnteditor, fntfactory) open it with photoshop or other program. Simply add some black lines on top and bottom of the letters. Import, edit font using the programs I listed. it's very intiucial. If you still have trouble provide me the the font and I'll try to fix it.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Looks OK, except for the typo, did you copy that directly from the file? If yes no wonder it is not working ;p

Aditionally I would advise to get rid of the spaces in names, back in the past I heard a rumor that mugen doesn't like them. But I cannot really verify it it is true or not as I was avoiding them ever since...

Another thing, did you "install" the plugin or just copy it into the folder? You need to edit mugen.cfg in order to make it working.

Thanks, I'll gladly try out your ending. I'm also interested in your game, if you ever choose to release it to the public.

Open Mugen.cfg and look for a "Sound configuration (Windows)" section where you'll find something like this:
Quote:
;If music is not looping with a particular plugin, you can try an
;optional first argument looptype=1 (seek to zero; may stutter)
;or looptype=2 (reload plugin; slow).
;Example: plugin = looptype=1, plugins/my_plugin.dll, mp3, mp2, mpg
Read it and add below the line with the example add the "plugin =" parameter with the right path to the dll file.

Yes, notepad and photoshop <- these are the basic tools. To put the graphic files into "mugen" again I reccomend Fighter Factory (good for inserting and extracting music, graphics) it cames together with other inbuilt tools. For making fonts use Font Factory.

Yes you can:
Quote:
;Insert characters here
;Use the format:
; charname, stagefilename
;
;eg. For a player with filename "kfm",
; and stage filename "stages/mybg.def"
;type:
; kfm, stages/mybg.def
;
;If you want to load a different def file, you can enter it
;as a directory plus the def file. This example loads up
;chars/kfm/alt-kfm.def:
; kfm/alt-kfm.def, stages/mybg.def
;
;If you put "random" as the stagefilename, then a random stage will
;be selected for that player. eg.
; kfm, random
;
;Optional parameters may follow on the same line, separated
;by commas. Each parameter has the form:
; paramname = paramvalue
;where paramname is the name of the parameter type, and
;paramvalue is the value to assign that parameter.
;The optional parameters are:
;
; - music
; Set the paramvalue to the name of the music file to use
; as the BGM for that character. This overrides the bgmusic
; parameter in the stage's .def file, so you can re-use the
; same stage for multiple characters, but have a different
; BGM playing for each person.

;
; - includestage
; Set the paramvalue to 0 to avoid including this stage
; in the stage select list (in VS, training modes, etc)
;
; - order
; Set the paramvalue to the ordering priority to give the
; character. Valid values are from 1 to 10. A smaller value
; means you will fight the character sooner. You will never
; fight an order 2 character before an order 1 character,
; and never an order 3 character before an order 2 one.
; For example, you might want to set your boss character
; to have order=3. The default order value is 1 if you omit
; this param. See *.maxmatches under [Options] for how to
; limit the number of matches per order priority.
;
; Some examples:
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, includestage=0
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, music=sound/song.mp3
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, music=sound/song.mp3, includestage=0
; kfm, stages/mybg.def, order=3
;
;You can also add a randomize icon to the select screen. To do
;this, put the word "randomselect" on a line of its own, with no
;extra parameters.

These two are game characters, after you download one of them open its cns file and look for state 180, 181 and 182 and analyze it's structure. Also read mugen docs in order to learn about triggers, they will be useful in coding quote screen. It's possible that every time you'll want to add the screen into the character changing the old code will be necessary so without the basic understanding of the code you will surely fail. What can I say, EXPERIMENT AND LEARN, otherwise you wont achieve anything. Nobody will code it for you.

The problem with quotes with names is the fact that the dispalyed text is actually graphical files, it is of course possible to force the correct one to be displated, but doing this will require making about 40 (as there about that many characters), not to mention I would like to have minimum 3 variants. Thus I would prefer to have them without names. The reason I asked for the ideas here is to gather your texts, I can always copy original quotes from gamefaqs but it's no fun. I come up with one funny quote for Robo-Rock, the famous text from MGS2 when Roy Campbell gets infected by the virus and starts acting strange:
Quote:
I hear its amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hari Kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!
It's too long though, so I'll have to reduce it. And yes, Robo-Rock has broken AI in this story.

Cleaning sprites is time consuming task but here they are, new quotation graphics.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

There is no tutorial to Fighter Factory I think, it is only a tool or rather a fronend that makes creating things easier. Once you know how to make something you'll find the use very easy. Better look for a tutorial how to make a screenpack, character or whatever.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
