I played through the first Lunar on the PS1, and I wasn't too happy with it. It's your old cliché RPG story, and even though it had some nice characters, it really didn't interest me that much. The translation really didn't help either, it just felt forced at some moments, and made everyone look like a bunch of idiots. As for the gameplay, there wasn't anything to do besides the battles, so it really bored me. I didn't have too much complaints about the battles in the beginning, since they were rather challenging, but after that they bored the hell out of me, since you could easy use the auto option for every single battle, something that I used a lot, while studying some of the more simpler stuff. In the end, I just think that the game bored me because it was too classic, maybe if it had been one of my first RPGs, I'd have appreciated it more.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I have only played my first Lunar game a few months ago, where as I've played a ton of RPG's before that, some good, and some bad. I've just seen all the typical clichés before, which is why Lunar's story just bored me since it wasn't original. If it had been one of the first RPG's I played, I wouldn't even know that the story was one big cliché; and I would have probably liked the game.

Also, I hardly played any SNES or NES RPGs, except for the mainstream titles, so minigames and sidequests are just something that I kinda expect out of a game.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
