Did anyone notice Konata switching to polite speech when she talked to her teacher in-game? That surprised me. Is that a joke or just normal practice?

There's only so much they can do with the source material, anyway. The author seems to be heavy on the tsukkomi gags rather than non-sequitur humour (Azumanga's style).
