That's insane. In years past, I've rented a PS1 and before that a Sega Saturn, and the prices were much better than that. I think it was about 20 dollars or so for the system, memory card, two controllers, and one game for three days. I think your local video store was just ripping people off.

[edit] I also remember renting an SNES and with it, Super Mario World and Final Fight.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I agree the price would be expected to go up, but 20 dollars for a few days with everything included to 80 dollars for a week with nothing included is WAY too much of a change. Also, the saturn I rented launched at 400 dollars. The 360? Also 400 dollars. Things really haven't changed all that much. The only real big change in game pricing will have to wait until the PS3, but even that will look cheap next to how much the Neo Geo was.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
