It's a fact that this game is impossible to beat, and can only be done with the help of a Game Genie. Even then it's still retardedly hard because the game controls like utter pig shit.
Ikaruga was just hard enough to where I couldn't do it with 5 continues, I needed to unlock the golden handicap of unlimited continues. After that it would take about 6 continues, 7 or 8 if I was lazy to beat the game.
For some reason, I could never beat the last boss in FFIV. I was never able to do it, no matter how much I leveled up (granted, it wasn't to dizzying degrees, but still reasonable). I'm hoping to re-try when it's released on DS soon.
I also couldn't get past this one boss very early on in Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete. It was in an icy level as far as I recall, and I tried beating him for 2 weeks before I flat-out gave up. Shitty, I know.
