If I had one wish it would be that it launches sooner than 2 days after the PS3. If it really had an October release, that would be incredible.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Those prices seem pretty fair to me. I was hoping for less for NES games, but it's a decent price for SNES and N64 when you get right down to it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

1:38 a.m. EST [update 7]: Famitsu reports 30 Nintendo games and 30 PC Engine/Megadrive (Turbo-Grafx/Genesis) games before end of year. Ten new virtual console games every month after that!

NICE. 60 VC games before the end of the year is pretty gnarly. All I want is Dracula X: Rondo of Blood.

2:45PM: Virtual Console will accept purchases via credit card, or via prepaid cards purchased in-stores.

It's or! Hooray!

From Joystiq-

1:55 p.m. [update 8]: And the other shoe drops. Famitsu is reporting a December 2 launch and 25,000 yen price for Japan.

That's roughly $200 in US dollars... December 2nd seems a bit late though. They DID say they would launch before PS3, right?

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

It's a clusterfuck right now. I will wait until Iwata announces it before I come to any conclusions. Any idea on how long this conference will last?

I honestly can't think of a good reason to launch this thing after the PS3... Skills had a point, but still, don't you think it would be better to come before so that people can see it and use it before forking over $600 for the PS3?

Better translation:

2:06 a.m. EST [update 10]: The press release is up. It lists the contents of the Wii box: Wii console, Wii remote (w/ strap) Nunchuck attachment, Wii AC adaptor, Wii A/V cable, Wii console stand(?), sensor bar, sensor bar stand and two AA batteries. Also, it seems the 25,000 yen price includes tax.

Looks like the 25,000 price includes tax, so now I would be even more surprised if it launches for $250 in the US.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

2:09 a.m. EST [update 11]: Gemaga reports 3,800 ($32.35) yen cost for the remote, 1800 ($15.32) yen for the classic controller, and 1800 ($15.32) yen for the nunchuck attachment.

Hah! Mine has translated prices, I win

That was a very nice video. All these games look so damn fun it's mindblowing. I imagine there will be a different video shown in the US tomorrow.

That's an awesome, AWESOME list of devs for the Virtual Console. I think they just kicked the bejesus out of Live Arcade with that.

I don't know why people are bitching about the $250 price tag. It's still the most affordable next-gen console on the market, and it's not like they said it would be any less. The hype had us hoping for less, but realistically, $250 is a good price. If it was less, some consumers might think of it as being too cheap and not a good system, as opposed to a great system for less.

Virtual Console games... Well, it's not ideal, but you pay for convinence. I have every single NES and SNES game with some Genesis games emulated on my Xbox for free. The downfall? My Xbox rarely works and the controller sucks. With Virtual Console, you're essentially paying for convinence, and also, more variety with MSX/PC Engine games. I don't mind the prices. I just won't buy any NES games because after thinking more about it, I feel $5 is a bit too much. $10 for N64 games is solid though.

I actually think the weather and news channels are nice features. They're marketing this thing as more than a game machine, and they actually used their brains and added on some stuff that matters. I can totally see myself using those features.

I was speaking idiomatically.

I didn't have a reason to go get a 2GB SD card until I read that. Should be a real cool feature. I'm excited to see more of these features in action.

It's locked, officially

I hope all this Gamestop bullshit is a filthy lie, as well... If that's true, it's going to be much harder to get my PS3 so I can make triple profit via eBay

Gah, that blows... Hopefully it will use the existing connector that they've used on all their systems, so that people with GC component cables can just use that instead.

And WarioWare! And also, don't forget about all the third party games coming out too. We have Super Monkey Ball, Metal Slug Anthology, and Red Steel at the very least to look forward to. I'm hoping Ubisoft cleaned up Red Steel's controls since E3. No question, this will be one of the best launches that I've seen in many years.

Looks like we're gonna have many more Wiis than expected!

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6159406.html

Quote:
Citing industry "checks," UBS analysts Alex Gauna and Steven Chin claim that Nintendo already made 2 million Wiis by the end of September. They go on to predict that, "at least 7 million and potentially as high as 9 million more units are in the build plan for Q4 06. This production ramp handily exceeds a publicly announced target for 6 million units to ship by year's end."

Besides being music to Nintendo fans' ears, the report should also hearten shareholders of the Broadcom Corporation, which makes the wireless integrated circuits in the next-gen console. Broadcom supplies "one Wi-Fi and two Bluetooth ICs [Integrated Circuits] into each packaged Wii, with the potential to enjoy additional Bluetooth sales from additional controllers." According to UBS estimates, that means the Irvine, California-based company will be selling between 7 to 9 million Wi-Fi ICs and 14 to 18 million Bluetooth ICs this year alone.
That's really something else. 2 million already made with potentially 9 million more? 11 million total Wiis by year's end? CHRIST THAT'S AWESOME!

Go here and then scroll to the bottom.

Sounds like a pretty cool thing. Hopefully that will also lead to updates in the software bundled within the system and stuff.
