SOLDIER mentioned Super Metroid, but he didn't mention the battle with Motherbrain and the giant Metroid. Yeah, it was easy as pie, but it was very cinematic (without being a cinema scene) and very rewarding when you get to blow Motherbrain away with the Hyper Beam.

RPG boss battles usually end up being more frustrating than exciting, but Final Fantasy IV definitely had some good boss fights. The Evil Wall is one of the most tense and unfair battles (unless you're overleveled), and actually kept me from beating the game for years. Also, the final battle with Zeromus can be either epic or a complete let down. It starts off with a rousing scene as your friends all pray for power and revive your characters while the Final Fantasy theme plays triumphantly. Then you use the crystal and this BIG FUCKING ALIEN pops up in front of you. Unfortunately, if you lose this battle it feels very anti-climatic, because you have to watch the scene all over again.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
